In native HD.
Probably should have got some Ten personalities to host the red carpet. They also need a network personality to host the coverage.
It’s like ten have an aversion to promoting themselves.

Looks like Ten is showing the awards categories and performances out of order. For example, The Veronicas performed In My Blood before they opened the TV broadcast.
Useless. Should be live anyway.
Bit of a stuff up… Troye Sivan winning ‘Apple Music Song of the Year,’ then walking to the stage while Illy is playing.
Yep. In this day and age, there really should be NO excuses for major awards ceremonies airing on a delay.
Also, why are the ARIAs being held on a Wednesday night anyway?
Not that different to a Thursday night previously. May have something to do with availability of the international artists (who were here for the XFactor earlier in the week).
It’s a pretty good presentation of the awards tonight. After a few really shonky shows in recent years they’re doing them really well again.
Seems like it is near live now. Best female artist was presented 10 minutes before it was on TV.
Native HD looks good, the presentation elements look awesome also - much more professional than previous years.
The Veronica’s are doing an alright job of hosting filling in last minute, makes a nice change from the usual predictable TEN host.
Some of the ‘stuff ups’ mentioned above seemed to have been fixed outside of Sydney I assume, haven’t noticed them in Brisbane?
Why are they filling in, last minute?
Filling in for Delta Goodrem, who is sick.
^ Thanks for that. I recall Delta being previously named as host now.
It looks like there was a reason for that. They had technical glitches with the sound in that performance so performed the song twice. Since the recording started two hours before the television broadcast they were able to edit the performance together, so the glitches were gone but it was in the broadcast later.
That would also explain why the audio didn’t match their mouths for the first 30 seconds or so.
I was wondering about The Veronicas changing into what looked like a body painted outfit so quickly. It definitely looked like a performance that could’ve opened the show. They did well hosting. Overall I thought the awards were good and definitely an improvement on some of the previous years where it became so cheap.
Also it was a little more maintstream this year.
Was getting sick of the obscure hipsters that would win awards and were only heard of on Triple J and in newtown.
Yeah agree. The awards went downhill when they became so focused on hipster Triple J played artists and winners. Flume dominating still leans on the hipster side but at least he’s had a little more broader success as well. Good to see a bit of variety in the performers as well.
Well a lot of this has to do with mainstream commercial radio.
A lot of Australian artists struggle to be heard outside Triple J. Some of this year’s nominees and winners like Flume, Sia and Troy Sivan get played on Nova, 2Day and KIIS but so many others struggle or don’t get near enough the airplay.
I think some artists have a sound that is suited to commercial radio but aren’t being given enough of a chance like Illy, LRDU, Rüfüs, Peking Duk etc. Nova for example hadn’t been playing Papercuts by Illy on high rotation until his next hit Catch 22 made it big and his album debuted at number 1, even though his first single has gone triple platinum.
Even previous Aussie artists who were big are struggling to get wide airplay even though they have big sales success like Guy Sebastian, The Veronicas, Samatha Jade, Hilltop Hoods, Empire Of The Sun etc
The ARIA Awards will return to Nine this year. The awards will be held on Tuesday, November 28. It will be interesting to see if they will be on the main channel or 9GO!, and whether it will be shown live or on delay.
Well the press release says Channel Nine.
With local content becoming scarce, it seems like a lot of programs are returning to main channels so that they aren’t being wasted on a small audience on multi-channels.
Couple of things from a Fairfax article today:
[I]t may be an expensive move for Nine. An industry source told Fairfax Media the ARIAs lose money for whichever network they get broadcast on.
As news of the channel swap broke this morning, reports emerged that Ten gave up the broadcast rights because it is in voluntary administration.
But a spokeswoman for the network shot down those rumours, revealing the deal ended before administration proceedings began.
“We ended our relationship with the ARIA Awards early this year, that is, we didn’t renew our contract,” she said.
