Anyone watching the live telecast on P+ right now? Some early highlights were shown during a report on the 7pm bulletin on the ABC tonight.
The didn’t censor the word “cunt” on free to air tonight.
Maybe that’s why tonight’s broadcast was rated MA for coarse language.
Australian music is so niche. I’ve never heard of any of these people. All the musicians look super weird and cooked. Most look like they haven’t washed in ages.
Do mainstream people get awards?
I think I’m just getting old.
Tyra Banks presented best pop release.
Yes. They don’t show the whole thing because it goes for well past 2 hrs.
I’ve been saying the same thing for the last couple of years.
I have barely heard of the nominees for a while now. And most are cooked. Sadly, i’m getting old too.
This year’s awards were much better than last year. It was well produced and there was no repeat of audio issues. Some great performances particularly those by Keli Holiday and Missy Higgins.
What was the audio like with the Missy Higgins performance when it was replayed on ten? Watching it live her microphone was very quiet.
I didn’t mind tonights broadcast on 10 overall.
Sure, i didn’t know many of the nominated artists, but i think it ran fairly smoothly compared to recent ceremonies. Tim Blackwell was good as co-host. Concetta Caristo wasn’t too bad, but still awkward at times.
Ratings wise, it usually rates poorly. But am hoping that the split red carpet at 7pm, and the ceremony at 8.40pm gets a slight bump in ratings. Thanks to Big Brother in the middle.
Awards were won by Missy Higgins, Troy Sivan, The Kid Laroi, Kasey Chamers, Tame Impala, Dom Dolla, Keli Holiday and Emma Memma. A lot of others were nominated eg. Kylie Minogue, Hilltop Hoods, Dean Lewis, Rufus Du Sol, Gotye, Sonny Fodera.
Some of the other artists may be better known to Triple J listeners rather than commercial radio but don’t forget, the awards are judged on merit not popularity.
More than likely. ![]()
Some performances from last night’s ARIA Awards are now available to catch up at ARIA’s YouTube channel.
