About time they did that. Iâve been saying for years that it was an outdated concept to leave out Easter and Summer weeks
Pretty sure the networks have been doing this for years already, the only reference to the antiquated âsurveyâ was OzTAMâs little seen official calendars and the networks still releasing end-of-year reports at the end of November.
Knoxy is probably pissed though, heâs always used them as his âhiatusâ ![]()
Britain, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea have year-round ratings survey.
Yet their programmingâŚ
Seems like a lot of double speak with nothing really changing except the pdf of the Calendar year. Networks still reporting as though there is an unofficial survey period and programs having breaks that coincide with the âholidaysâ. Also noting that the PR teams that send out ratings reports seem also become much more active in week seven.
It doesnât mean viewership can and will still be lower during those periods (outside tennis and cricket at least), as OzTAM told TVT âholiday periodsâ and as such you could forgive the networks for saving expensive, premium programming for higher viewership times of the year.
About time. I never got the Easter break, and starting the Ratings Survey so late (early to mid Feb).
You could argue it was because of whatâs on.
No more such excuses. Every week is ratings week now.
There has certainly been some changes to the ratings in recent years. Mostly for the better.
They got rid of most of the split codings from ânormal tv showsâ from 4pm until midnight, from two to one codings. Eg - shows like the 4pm Afternoon News, the 5pm Game Shows, the 6pm News, The Project etc used to have two codings each for the ratings, now its one (brekky / morning tv is not there yet).
We now have a top 30 (instead of a top 20) national ratings, instead of a metro ratings. An improvement there too.
Curiously, has OzTam released a top 30 (or so) top rating yearly shows lately? I know the commercial stations do so with their spin. But anything official from.oztam? If not, i hope thats next om their list of things to do.
Although there are days with only 20 unique programs (13 last federal election day). And that one Saturday that saw two networks whitewashed.
No, but I could make one myself. This isnât the thread to put it in though.
