They could have called the new FM station “Gun FM”! Or “Goulburn FM” although the community station now known as Ram FM identified itself as Goulburn FM 103 in the early 90s.
Goulburn now has stations all over the FM dial and in different spacings:
88.7 triple j
89.5 ABC FM Classic
90.3 ABCRR (ABC Central West)
93.5 2SNO (Eagle FM)
94.3 HPON (Sky Sports Radio maybe? anyone local confirm?)
97.9 ABC RN (not on air yet but proposed)
99.9 ABC News Radio
100.7 KIX Country
103.3 2GCR (Ram FM)
107.7 GNFM
is there any plan for use of the old 1368 frequency once 2GN exits the AM band?
Nope. It will become a clear channel. No other stations on that frequency in Australia.
Yes, 94.3 is Sky Sports Radio. A permanent signal here in Bowral.
Plenty of free frequencies that could be used for SEN .
Dont give them ideas! Lol
Not really, remember all AM/MW frequencies vacated, go into the pool of frequencies reserved for possible future DRM use, they can’t be reallocated as another AM station/use, be it commercial, community, or narrowcast.
Stupid really, given DRM may never happen. Why not give temporary licences to those who want to use vacated AM frequencies?
And has anyone thought of contacting the General Manager of Radio Goulburn in that video and advising him that yes, there are services that do cause interference right across the band in Goulburn, while he’s inviting the feedback? If the intermodulation is as bad as last time I was there…
It shouldn’t be too far away. The 2TLC switch (which is permanent, not a 7 day test) paves the way.
What is/was the 2TLC switch?
Thanks, and based on what I’ve heard on 88.9 2RE Taree, I think 2GF should stay ID’d as 2GF on FM.
I think the traditional AM number/two letter call sign format works well for the Super Radio Network AM stations.
I thought 2GN was commencing at 8am yesterday.
Looked again at their website & there is an error.
It quotes: Friday 5 May 2022 at 8am. I’m guessing
that it’s a typo & should be today Friday 6th of May.
Is anybody recording the opening at 8am?
Can’t receive the signal under 107.7 Triple M Gosford.
I just checked and it’s not until next week. They are still airing the test loop.
Hopefully I will be able to record the official opening next week, though I wonder if full programming will commence a little earlier (a’la 2XL>XL FM).
Messages airing on 1368 (and 106.1 Crookwell) advising of the switchover next Friday. They really should also advise that 106.1 Crookwell will not be affected.
It depends on what the wording in the message is… if it says 1368am is moving to 107.7 or words to that effect, that should be sufficient?
Just did a reception test on the car radio of GNFM around Burrawang/Robertson
Reception is Good but mixes with Gosford on some parts of the Illawarra Highway.
How is it further north towards Sydney?
So far I only tried my home at Bowral as well as between Burrawang and Robertson. Have not tried it in Mittagong yet.
