###Sex in Strange Places

From Monday 17 July at 9:30pm

In this investigative series, presenter Stacey Dooley travels to Turkey, Russia, and Brazil to meet young people who are trading on their looks and sexuality for a living. The demand for sex is universal; the price paid by those who buy and sell is not. What do the attitudes of punters, police and the public towards the sex industry tell us about the places Stacey visits? From VIP call girls, flown first class and earning thousands of dollars a night, to street corners where every car that stops could carry a rapist or murderer, sex workers, brothel owners, and clients reveal the realities of working in this hidden and often dangerous world.

Armed with a polygraph (lie detector) machine plus 25 years’ experience, deception expert Dan will ensure that the truth gets out. From “Who is the better kisser?” to “Can we get back together?” no question is too big or too small. Wrongs will be righted, the record will be set straight, and for many, love will be rekindled.

###National Bird

Sunday 23 July at 8:30pm

National Bird, screening as part of the Sunday Best season of feature length documentaries, follows the dramatic journey of three whistle-blowers who are determined to break the silence around one of the most controversial current affairs issues of our time: the secret U.S. drone war.

At the centre of the film are three U.S. military veterans. Plagued by guilt over participating in the killing of faceless people in foreign countries, they decide to speak out publicly, despite the possible consequences.

Their stories take dramatic turns, leading one of the protagonists to Afghanistan where she learns about a horrendous incident. But her journey also gives hope for peace and redemption. National Bird gives rare insight into the U.S. drone program through the eyes of veterans and survivors, connecting their stories as never seen before in a documentary. Its images haunt the audience and bring a faraway issue close to home.

National Bird has screened at the following international film festivals: World Premiere at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival, 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, 2016 San Francisco International Film Festival and the 2016 SheffieldDoc/Fest, 2016 Sydney International Film Festival, 2016 Melbourne International Film Festival.

###Remembering the Man

Sunday 30 July at 8:30pm

A documentary about the true story of Tim Conigrave and John Caleo.

Remembering the Man, screening as part of the Sunday Best season of feature length documentaries, is the story of love, loss, and AIDS from a uniquely Australian perspective. In the 1970s, at a prestigious Catholic boy’s school in Melbourne, arty and flamboyant Tim Conigrave fell madly in love with the star of the school’s football team…

In 1995, Timothy Conigrave’s memoir, Holding the Man, was published. The book told the story of his passionate relationship with his first and only love, John Caleo, a relationship that began in high school and ended 16 years later when the AIDS virus struck down both men. Tim’s memoir became an instant classic. Millions of copies have been sold and the book has been adapted for the stage and screen.

Remembering the Man uncovers the true story of these star cross‘d Romeos: their awkward schoolboy romance; their parents’ efforts to keep them apart; temptation, infidelity and separation; how they came back together stronger than before; and finally the courage they had to find when they learnt they were both HIV positive.

Through Tim’s voice and intimate interviews with friends and colleagues and unprecedented access to archival footage and family photos, Remembering the Man paints a raw, gritty, and intimate picture.

###The Traffickers

From Tuesday 1 August at 9:30pm

We live in a black-market world. With the right money, you can buy anything. Sex, drugs, exotic animals, even body parts: all sold by vast criminal networks. Crossing the globe from Asia to Africa, to the Americas and Europe, our host, Nelufar Hedayat, tracks down The Traffickers, the people who buy, sell, bribe, and smuggle illicit goods across continents. In each episode of this 8-part series, Nelufar traces the supply chain of one commodity from consumer to source and finds that the illegal world is often closer to the legitimate one that you might think.

Under the radar, out of sight, is a vast interconnected marketplace comprising counterfeit and illegal goods trafficked across borders on a global scale. It is a world peopled by profit-driven dealers, compliant middlemen, bribe-taking officials, poachers, and smugglers and comprising vast transportation networks, packaging factories, safe houses… and enormous amounts of money.

Nelufar investigates the interconnected black markets operating internationally, which trade in precious minerals, counterfeit drugs, endangered species, even people. Digging deep into each story Nelufar finds that many of us are unwitting customers of these nefarious suppliers. She explores the causes and effects of trafficking: species hunted to near extinction; miners forced to pay protection money to terrorists; people forced by poverty to sell their organs.

Travelling by plane, taxi, boat, and rickshaw, Nelufar moves smoothly between legitimate and illegitimate worlds going deeper and deeper into the dark world of trafficking. Following her through bustling markets, down dingy alleyways and into more than a few dead ends, we witness every step of her investigation and find that the world of The Traffickers is not as black and white as it might seem.

In episode 1, Nelufar investigates the black market in rhino horns from Vietnamese dealers to South African smugglers. In the Kruger National Park, she uncovers a secret war between gamekeepers and poachers and witnesses the tragic consequences for rhinos.

###Banksy Does New York

Sunday 6 August at 8:30pm

On Oct. 1, 2013, the elusive British street artist known as Banksy launched a self- proclaimed month-long residency in New York City, posting one unique exhibit a day in an unannounced location, sparking a 31-day scavenger hunt both online and on the streets for Banksy’s work.

Capturing this month of madness, Banksy Does New York incorporates user-generated content, from YouTube videos to Instagram photos from New Yorkers and Banksy hunters alike.

With installations spanning all five boroughs of NYC, and including a mix of stencil graffiti, sculpture, video and performance art, Banksy touched on such wide-ranging subjects as fast-food wages, animal cruelty in the meat industry, civilian casualties in Iraq and the hypocrisy of the modern art world.

A pair of Banksy hunters and dog walkers using the handle @twowaytraffic chronicled their month-long search on camera, while Stephan Kezler, owner of a Southampton gallery that buys and sells the street artist’s unauthorized, illegal, public work, sought out new and valuable pieces.

From Queens and Staten Island to Bushwick and the Lower East Side, each new piece was revealed daily on the artist’s @BANKSYNY Instagram account and website, but the exact locations of the pieces remained secret. Using Twitter hashtags and posts to Facebook, Instagram and Vine, art lovers and fans searched the streets for a new and often fleeting glimpse at Banksy’s work.

Adding to the thrill of the chase for Banksy fans was the uncertainty of whether a work would be altered by haters or removed by authorities before they arrived to see it.

###Never Ending Orgasm

Friday 11 August at 9:05pm

We know that some women are multi-orgasmic, experiencing between 2-3 orgasms during a sexual event, but there are also super-orgasmic women who can experience over a hundred orgasms in any one sexual encounter.

For the first time, a new study by McGill University, Canada, reveals stats and testimonies from over 450 super orgasmic women. Some of them can experience 10 orgasms - while others come hundreds of times, experiencing hours of pleasure. They vary in age and background, but have one thing in common: they are all still a mystery to science, as what happens to them has never been studied.

A group of super orgasmic women who took part in the Canadian study are taking it to the next stage. They will go into the lab and meet the best sex scientists in the world, to reveal: Is it all in their heads or can we prove and measure this endless chain of pleasure is really happening?
