ABC commemorates Anzac Day
Commemorate Anzac Day tomorrow with the ABC. The full day of coverage will start with the live broadcast of the Dawn Services from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra and Martin Place in Sydney.
This will be followed by live broadcasts of the local marches in every state capital and live crosses to Gallipoli and Villers-Bretonneux.
The comprehensive coverage is available live or on demand across ABC TV, ABC NEWS Channel, ABC radio, ABC iview, ABC listen, the ABC Australia YouTube channel and the ABC Facebook account.
The Anzac Day address by the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC will be broadcast nationally immediately before the 7PM News.
Special programming and reports will feature throughout the day, including an interview with 101-year-old Anzac Fighter Pilot Bill Purdy by Jeremy Fernandez and an update to a well-loved Conversations episode from WWII historian Dr Jeremy Austin about the case of an unknown sailor.
The Australia Remembers collection is available to watch any time on ABC iview, with highlights including ANZAC Battlefields, ANZAC Girls, The Art of Remembrance and The Many Days of ANZAC. All Anzac Day TV programming will be added to the collection.
Anzac Day Coverage Summary – Friday 25 April 2025
From 4.20am AEST the Anzac Dawn Service from Sydney will be broadcast live on ABC TV, ABC NEWS channel, and ABC iview.
At 5.30am the National Dawn Service at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra will be live on ABC TV, ABC NEWS channel, ABC Radio National, ABC Local Radio, ABC listen and ABC iview and streamed live on Facebook and YouTube.
From 9am the ABC will televise local marches live in all state and territory capital cities (check local guides for start times). Local broadcasts of capital city marches and dawn services will also be streamed live on ABC iview.
At 12.30pm the Gallipoli Dawn Service will be broadcast from the Anzac Commemorative site at Anzac Cove.
The Villers-Bretonneux Dawn Service will be broadcast live at 1.30pm from the Australian National Memorial in France.
ABC NEWS channel will have live coverage all day, with the major national services in full and crosses to marches in all state capitals.
On ABC radio and ABC listen there will be live coverage of local dawn services and marches. Most states (except Victoria) will broadcast the Anzac Day Dawn Service in Canberra from 5.30am AEST. Melbourne will broadcast live from the Shrine of Remembrance for the Dawn Service, followed by statewide coverage from 9am until 11am, with crosses to the Melbourne march. Live commemorations from Sydney, Darwin, Brisbane, Townsville, Adelaide and Newcastle will also be heard on local stations in those areas.
