Filmmaker, journalist and podcaster Louis Theroux embarks on a series of intimate one-on-one interviews with a fascinating mixture of iconic names and famous faces.

In the first episode, Louis spends time with platinum selling rapper Stormzy. After two years out of the spotlight, Stormzy welcomes Louis into his home in South West London to sit down for a frank and revealing conversation that covers many aspects of his life; from his childhood to the breakdown of a high-profile relationship, and the pressures that come with being one of the country’s best loved musicians and role models. Louis meets Stormzy at a transformative stage of his life.

Kevin Can F*** Himself

image

From Tuesday 2 May 9.30pm ALL EPS AVAILABLE TO STREAM ON ABC IVIEW

Kevin Can F*** Himself is about a woman we all grew up thinking we knew: the Sitcom Wife. She’s beautiful and can take a joke. She’s married to a guy who must’ve won some sort of marriage lottery, because she’s gorgeous and he’s…funny. But on this show, when that wife—Allison—walks out of the sitcom living room, for once we follow her and leave her husband behind.

It’s in her single-camera life that Allison is given space to bond with and appreciate the other woman in her world, and it’s within that relationship that she finds her salvation. Because at its core, even though the show may have his name in the title, Kevin Can F*** Himself is a show about two women.

Instead of having the series revolve around a toxic marriage, the focus is on how a female friendship—with all its intensity and complication and importance—can save both of them.

Episode 1 - Kevin throws his annual “Anniversa-rager” party with help from Patty, Neil and Pete. After Patty reveals the truth about her bank accounts, Allison goes on a bender and makes a decision to take back control of her life.

Documentary Now! - Season 2

image

From Thursday 18 May 9.15pm

Series 2, Episodes 1,2,3 of 7 + BINGE

Stream all episodes on ABC iview on 18 May at 9.15pm

Fred Armisen and Bill Hader lovingly parody some of the world’s best-known documentaries, with each episode shot in a different style of documentary filmmaking.

Co-created by Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and Rhys Thomas, the Emmy-nominated series, Documentary Now! is rewriting history once again with seven all-new documentary inspired episodes.
Parodying the current obsession with documentaries, each episode, delightfully hosted by Dame Helen Mirren, stars Armisen and Hader lovingly paying homage to a specific documentary and sharing a captivating (if completely untrue) story inspired by these timeless films.

This season an array of acclaimed guest stars includes Anne Hathaway, Mia Farrow, Peter Bogdanovich, Peter Fonda and Maya Rudolph.

Season 2’s slate honours six well-known documentaries across seven episodes.

Episode one: The Bunker: Thursday 18th May at 9.15pm on ABC TV and ABC iview
The premiere episode The Bunker is inspired by the heart-racing 1993 political documentary “The War Room,” with James Carville and George Stephanopoulos. It follows two scheming and cocky campaign managers (Hader and Armisen) working on the heated race for the Governor of Ohio. Lies will be told, death threats will be made, and questionable ‘90s fashion choices will surface, all in the camcorder-documented fight to get their underdog candidate to the top.

Episode two: Juan Likes Rice & Chicken: Friday 19th May at 10.20pm on ABC TV Plus
Shot in Colombia, “Juan Likes Rice & Chicken” is a colourful food-centric homage to the 2011 documentary “Jiro Dreams of Sushi." Young chef Arturo (Armisen) and his brother learn the tricks of the trade from their stern, no-nonsense father Juan who runs a highly-acclaimed restaurant that only serves one dish made with painstaking precision — chicken and buttered rice. Who wouldn’t travel thousands of miles for the world’s best plate of rice?

Episode three: Parker Gail’s Location is Everything: Saturday 20th May at 9.20pm on ABC TV Plus
“Parker Gail’s Location is Everything” is inspired by the 1987 documentary “Swimming to Cambodia” directed by Jonathan Demme. In the episode, Hader gives a tour de force performance as Parker Gail (lovingly inspired by playwright Spalding Gray), a monologist who shares a riveting tale with his audience – a story on the tragic loss of his New York City apartment – all while sitting behind a bare desk in an intimate black box theatre.

Episode four: Final Transmission: Thursday 25th May at 9.15pm on ABC TV
Inspired by the groundbreaking 1984 Talking Heads concert documentary “Stop Making Sense,” “Final Transmission” features an eponymous hit band (Armisen, Hader and Rudolph) performing a riveting, high-energy final concert to an eager audience of fans. The innovative episode includes a musically-diverse set list of songs written by Armisen himself. Outside of the concert, the episode will delve deep into the musicians’ interwoven backstories and reveal the inspirations behind their ‘80s classics such as “Free David Ness” and “Indeng Indeng.”

Episode five Globesman: Friday 26th May at 10.30pm on ABC TV Plus
A tribute to the 1968 Maysles documentary “Salesman" that followed a wearied quartet of door-to-door Bible salesmen, “Globesman” shares a similar story about four hard-working businessmen trying their best to sell globes to a community of people who find them too expensive and ultimately prefer atlases. Feeling pressure from their regional manager, and dealing with the constant rejection from customers, the salesmen do anything they can to reinvent the globe as a need-to-have household item.

Episode six: Mr. Runner Up: My Life as an Oscar Bridesmaid Part 1 and Part 2:
Part one: Saturday 27th May at 9.20pm on ABC TV Plus
Part two: Thursday 1st June at 9.15pm on ABC TV Plus
“Mr. Runner Up: My Life as an Oscar Bridesmaid, Part 1 and Part 2” is inspired by “The Kid Stays in the Picture,” the 2002 documentary that traces the meteoric rise, fall, and rise again of legendary Hollywood producer Robert Evans. The two-part episode will follow a similar aging producer in the cutthroat movie business (Hader) giving an account of his rocky Tinseltown career and his elusive quest for Hollywood’s top prize.

I’ve never liked them.

There was nothing wrong with having ABC2 and ABC3. We all knew what their focus was. We didn’t need other words that did nothing to enhance.
