New logo launched today:

Hmm…this style looks rather similar to that of the “ABC Classic” logo launched last year, except with a different colour scheme.

I’d imagine that if the local radio stations didn’t have a fairly new logo design, they’d bring in a new logo design for them which matches the ABC Classic/RN logo(s).

Inaugural ABC TOP 5 Arts announced

The ABC has announced the recipients of the inaugural ABC TOP 5 Arts media residencies, which will enable some of Australia’s brightest minds to share their skills with the nation.

The inaugural ABC TOP 5 Arts recipients for 2020 are:

  • Rose Montgomery – Freelance stage & costume designer
  • Jacqui Alexander – Intersection of architecture with art, media, politics and economics
  • Kerri Ann Foweraker – Independent screen writer & director
  • Beau de Belle – Architecture
  • Joanne Choueiri – Visual arts and architecture

The recipients will undertake a two-week residency at ABC Radio National in November, learning the craft of communicating with a wide audience from some of Australia’s best broadcasters and developing content across radio and digital platforms.

The ABC TOP 5 Arts, in partnership with the University of Melbourne and Australia Council for the Arts, is available to early-career graduate PhD arts scholars and graduate arts practitioners across the visual arts, performance, design, architecture and screen.

Richard Buckham, ABC Manager Arts, said the recipients were chosen from an exceptional field of more than 160 applicants. “The ABC and our project partners were hugely impressed with the applicants’ extraordinary quality of work and the commitment they have for sharing their ideas,” he said. “The choice of the final five recipients was very difficult to make. We look forward to engaging with these leading arts thinkers and practitioners in bringing new stories and ideas to our audience, as part of the ABC’s ongoing commitment to Australia’s arts industry.”

This year’s ABC TOP 5 Arts residency was pushed back from August to November due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A friend of mine went to one of the performances a few years ago. They said the dancing was good, but what they didn’t like was that there were some political speeches. The performances are not advertised as having an agenda, but they do.

I’ve noticed that RN Breakfast is now playing a feature song just before 8:30 AM. They have Caz Tran from Double J introducing it.

Did I hear RN Breakfast has a new theme tune? I had Breakfast softly on in the background this morning while I was driving and couldn’t make out if they were using a new theme.

Breakfast, Drive, Saturday Extra and Sunday Extra all got new themes about a month ago.

Dempster listens to Adams on this good looking AM/FM radio.

Morrow, a founding member of The Chaser and brains behind The Checkout consumer affairs show, has been locked in a long contract dispute and defamation action via his production companies The Checkout Pty Ltd and Giant Dwarf against producer Nick Murray and the Cordell Jigsaw production house.

Last week The Checkout and Giant Dwarf filed a contempt of court action against the ABC and want the court to declare that the ABC failed to comply with two subpoenas because it was “redacting documents in an impermissible manner”.

Lots of weird stuff going on with Newsradio last night around the 2:00 am news. Lots of horrible sounds, then Phillip Clark’s Nightlife on Delay. They seemed to have got it sorted after about 2:30
