The federal parliament is in session on Wednesday, so News Radio can broadcast the proceedings as usual, and BBC World Service at other times.
Who switches it from Parliament to the BBC? You’d hope they’ve automated it or at the very least mediahub do it…. Could get prickly otherwise
Surely they’d have continuity plans in the event of a major issue affecting every studio they own, which would include having an agreement with either the SBS or an overseas broadcaster such as TVNZ to carry on programming.
The only issue with that is there any sort of carve out in terms of using ABC branding by another seperate organisation, just like how Seven initially vetoed SCA from rebranding their Tasmanian bulletin under the Seven News name.
Don’t the ABC also have the rights for the Qantas bulletins as well now?
You?
I’d be happy if they just had a live feed of BBC World News on the ABC News Channel and there’s plenty of reruns they can put on the main channel and ABC Entertains / Family.
A live feed of DW. BBC has not been used for a few years.
Why not a 24/7 feed of BBC News on ABC multiplex and a 24/7 feed of the World Service on the DTV multiplex as well.
That would also work I suppose. Not as good as BBC but it would have to do.
SBS carries this on DAB- SBS Radio 3.
SBS also carries some BBC news bulletins throughout the day.
But they interject with SBS programs. I want a 24-7 relay.
I know they transmit online, but sometimes you just want a terrestial channel to flick to.
Are all ABC journalists unionised?
Not all of them.
Both sides have apologized to each other.
Sky News host Chris Kenny roasts ABC as staff at taxpayer-funded broadcaster plan major strike for higher pay
Sky News host Chris Kenny has roasted the ABC after it was revealed staff at the taxpayer-funded broadcaster are planning a major strike for higher pay and better work conditions.
“Music without presenters? They’ll probably never rate higher,” Kenny said.
“But my concern is this, without ABC News and current affairs, radio and television, who will the Greens and Teals politicians talk to?
“They will be wandering around Parliament House corridors, feeling lonely and irrelevant and desperate to talk to someone.”
Something he knows all too well. ![]()
