Some of the International Awards were shown as “earlier awarded”, just prior to going to the ad break. All other Aussie awards have been shown in full so far, and telling us all the nominees too.
Rebel Wilson’s hosting is just the monologue so far.

And that’s the end of that. Overall, a good ceremony.
Thankfully, the Audience Choice Awards weren’t shown. But sadly, neither was Best Supporting Actor in a Film, Best Supporting Actor & Actress in a TV Show, Best Factual Program, Best Lifestyle Program. and Best Documentary Film. Thankfully, a majority of awards were shown in its entirely.
Ron Howard rocked.
Rebel Wilson’s monologue was average, but she was better later on in the night.
And the editing was better than previous years.
Too many ads for Gold Coast…

A couple of very moving speeches from Cal Wilson’s husband accepting the Best Comedy Performer award and later Jock Zonfrillo’s wife, Lauren, spoke after MasterChef won Best Reality Series.

Their speeches were indeed quite moving. Certainly had a tear in my eyes.
The In Memoriam later in the airing was touching too.

There were few tears among the audience when Cal Wilson’s husband spoke.
Overall, I think it is one of the best AFI/AACTA Awards telecasts I have seen in years.

So who won the popular awards?
The winners are on AACTA website and its Twitter account.
I turned off after 10 minutes. Very cringey.
Quite a pointless exercise then.
That’s disappointing. After all, the AACTAs are supposed to be about the actors.

Sophie Monk won thank god
Good to see that both Seven’s Sunrise and Nine’s Today had some coverage of last night’s AACTA Awards.
I am so glad that The Newsreader won quite a few of the Television Awards.
Talk To Me won Best Film. Not my cup of tea, but it was a success here, so well done to the young directors (who didn’t get the memo about the dress code last night. lol)

Had a chance to catch up with the awards this morning. I think it was a much better show than it has been in years. They just need to focus on the Australia awards and forget all those solly International categories in future.
I think they could have shown a few more awards since it had a relatively short screening time.
It was so much better this year.

Agree that the Awards were a lot better than previous years.
If Margot Robbie wasn’t there, i wonder if they’d show the awards. I hope they don’t focus too much on these International Awards in the future either.
Focus on the Australian Awards, even if it was a simple “as seen earlier in the night” type of thing.

Yeah. I did think that they wanted to show Margot Robbie and Sarah Snook win the actress awards so had to show the actor awards too.
