A Current Affair (2015-Feb 2025)

Ok, let’s stop with the needless and crazy predictions before the thread gets closed.

Deb seems like the natural fit to me. I hope she gets the gig, if she wants it of course

That would be good but sadly Wick won’t put David Campbell or a female in that chair. If they wanted to mess with 7, poach Michael Usher (for Today or ACA) to wipe out 7’s succession plan for both Sunrise and 6pm.

Or 7 could poach Karl for a new 7pm offering.

I actually miss Naomi on my screen.
The thing is… would she want to come back to TV?

“Karl does not want the job”. A text Peter Ford received and read out on air after discussing the contenders for the ACA chair on 3AW this morning.

I don’t think she ever made any appearances on TV ever since she left Today Tonight. That suggests that the chances of her making a comeback is little to none.

With the mentions of Naomi Robson, I’ll throw another one in the ring (whilst there’s wild speculation)

Wonder if Anna Coren needs a break from Hong Kong (with CNN).

No doubt if it was 2006… Nine would be offering her anything to come over, I even remember Eddie Mcguire wanting to sign her up, but she’s been out of the TV Landscape way too long now.

She did Dancing With The Stars (2007) and hosted the Morning Show (2010), I think she even voiced a few documentaries over the years.

They tried to get Naomi up as a daytime format too

Yes… but Seven opted to launch The Morning Show instead of ‘The Naomi Show’ , which would have been more of a talk show format with a studio audience. I remember seeing the pilot.

Audio of Peter Ford from 6PR today

Peter Ford told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast

Smells a little like tailoring a message to an audience.

It’s not particularly insightful throwing names around, is it? It’s almost like his list of ‘contenders’ came from this forum.

Some information about Tracy’s replacement from The Australian’s Media Diary tonight:

  • Nine wants to spread the net as widely as possible - including looking at talent from other networks
  • At Nine, there are four frontrunners: Sylvia Jeffreys (the internal bookies favourite), Karl Stefanovic (who has ruled himself out), Allison Langdon, and Deb Knight
  • A long list of candidates from outside the network, both male and female, has been drawn up, including Carrie Bickmore, Stan Grant, Lisa Millar, Sarah Harris and Melissa Doyle
  • Sam Armytage is not considered a “fit” at Nine, and therefore is not on the list of potential replacements
  • Nine is open to a successful candidate based in Melbourne and moving production south

Thank god

I hope she’ll get it. She’s worked so hard at Nine and deserves a prestigious role (putting ACA’s content aside).

Apart from her, the only other person that would work is Mel Doyle (and that’s with some real restructure occurring to make it a bit more newsier).

Sam Armytage? Don’t make me laugh. She’ll be as bad as the content that is on the show 90% of the time.

So a good fit then.
