What? Is the two minute News Update at 1pm actually listed in the schedule? Silly and pointless indeed!
As for the now 1.02pm schedule (see how silly that sounds), I get why Time is Money is on 3 times a week. To stretch it out. Good to have Beat the Chasers UK back on air (on Thursdays).
It just doesn’t make sense having so many presenters on the books in 2026. Even when there is breaking news in the afternoon, they utilise another presenter from Sydney. Example Interest Rates.
This Tuesday will most likely look like this.
Midday National News (1 presenter)
1pm, 2pm, 3pm Winning Arvo (1 presenter)
Interest Rate Update (1 presenter)
5 Local Afternoon News Bulletins (5 presenters)
The first of the abridged news updates went to air at 1pm - Alex appeared straight after Natarsha with no opener. Headlines were for 55 sec then local breaks still featured that had headlines for 30 sec then back to Alex for national weather for a total of 2 minutes.
The whole concept makes no sense - if the local presernters are going to be on hand for the updates why not present the whole thing. Having Alex do a couple of national headlines from Melbourne is redundant especially following immediately out of a national bulletin. Better to have all local updates.
Update: 2pm featured just Alex - no local windows - run time 1:50 - one sports story, no weather.
If Seven want to air a gameshow block, then do exactly that. If they want a news and current affairs–centric program in that slot, then either adapt any of the Sunrise, 11AM, or Daily Edition formats to fit perfectly in an afternoon slot, or use NBC as an example for an NBC News Daily–style bulletin format. Axe the state-based 4PMs and replace those with a daily rotation of the formats that currently air as part of Winning Arvo.
Ratings for the new lineup. Got off to a good start; as expected the short program length meant the News Updates with Alex Cullen aren’t included in the ratings.
10’s numbers, while low, are an improvement on earlier reports.

Good to see the new show Time Is Money at 1pm doing well for Seven. As too the Bridge of Lies at 2pm. Outrating Nine’s line up. Nine would love to have Married At First Sight repeats at 12pm to boost their daytime ratings. lol.
The gap between 3 and 6pm have narrowed a little for Seven and Nine.
10’s 12pm hour still struggling, but the rest of the line-up has slightly improved, which is good.
I really don’t get the idea of the ‘Winning Arvo’ timeslot.
The 1PM update is utter useless because it is right after Seven Noon News & basically crams as many stories in a 2 minute time frame. They get Alex to do the national part & weather. But if you got local presenters there doing their local opt-outs.. Alex doesn’t need to be utilised. Can’t they just use the local presenters? There was never an issue before this Winning Arvo.
Not to mention the actual ‘Winning Arvo’ thing which involves winning money.. rarely is played.
Just go back to the old formula Seven.. this just a mess
