Seven does need to rethink the “Winning Arvo” - especially at 3pm. Would having another 10 minute News with Alex Cullen work at 3pm, so some viewers don’t switch over to Tipping Point? And have less commercials for The Chase UK at 3.10pm?
Not a drastic change i know - but would that shorten the gap at 3pm, and thus a follow on effect at 4 and 5 - even if it is by a small margin?
Im just wondering, do we have secondary channel figures for the midday to 6pm part of the day? I know its a little off topic but just wondering how these compare to the main channels
Thursday saw the headline act, the lowest rated program of the arvo - a bit embarrassing but perhaps an anomaly. It was the lowest number seen so far. The new games shows continue to do alright for Seven but the strategy hasn’t yet had the desired impact of improving the 3-5pm numbers that might otherwise help The Chase.
I don’t think that’s ultimately the end goal, otherwise we wouldn’t have such a terrible execution of an advertised programming block turned weekly segments.
Winning Arvo might be doing well between 1pm and 3pm. But it still looks like more viewers still prefer both versions of Tipping Point more than The Chase. I don’t think it’s anything else at this stage.
On Tuesday the 10 minute segment Seven News With Alex Cullen had the highest rating I’ve seen so far with 198,000.
It was up against The Golden Bachelor Encore on Nine that managed just 117,000.
That saw Blankety Blank (173,000) and Bridge Of Lies (164,000) up on their average audiences while Pointless on Nine had 96,000.
By 3pm Nine was on top with Tipping Point (297,000) ahead of The Chase UK (225,000). 9News Afternoon (387,000) was ahead of Seven News At 4 (323,000). At 5pm Tipping Point (778,000) won against The Chase (623,000).
So after a few weeks of settling into this new daytime format, can we say that the 1-3pm slots is a success? However, has the 3-6pm slots gotten any improvements though?
