For viewers who aren’t regular commercial break watchers or just ‘scan’ channels…
6pm local news could pay off for WIN.
Seeing as many in VIC & half of NSW (foe example) would tune in thinking Peter Hitchener / Peter Overton’s is on… And of course stay to watch their local areas news?
That event really surprised me. Usually no regional TV stations would hold a party to celebrate the arrival of ten network
QTV didn’t hold a party when it switched to ten from nine because it’s too short notice. Even NBN wouldn’t be celebrating if it was forced to pick up ten network programs
I think every regional station would Rather they beam nine or seven network orograms.
WIN must have been very very angry with nine to want to have a party welcoming ten network programs.
Hopefully by then, we will have seen further media reform and the current regional networks being allowed to merge with their metropolitan counterparts.
But of course, five years is like an eternity in the media so absolutely anything can happen between now and then!
I’m guessing that is why Nine is so interested in transforming the Eastern Seaboard into Nine branding as they are the three key markets Nine are interested in… If media reforms happen and they purchase Qld, S NSW and Victoria it will be just a change of ownership and no one will notice any difference on air… Almost like preparing the stations for takeover…
