If only Nine had announced it at their Upfronts event last week instead of allowing themselves to be trumped by TV Blackbox. Oh wait…

In news just in, the Queen has died

They’ll cancel it, obviously. They’re outsourcing to 9.

Is 9 likely to reinstate the 9 news studios that was used for SCA news In Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne for the 9 statewide news on behalf of win for regional Queensland, regional Victoria and southern NSW / ACT?

I do NOT think Canberra should be a part of the SNSW bulletin if Nine relaunches one. Make it it’s own 1 hour, 7 days a week bulletin produced live from Canberra for just people from Canberra. No more pretending ACT is a part of SNSW.

The Canberra TV region also includes Queanbeyan, Yass, Goulburn, Cooma, Jindabyne etc.

News does happen in these places from time to time.

Not enough people in Canberra care about this to make it worth it. It would be quite expensive also.

Even ABC’s bulletin is only 30 minutes, and even then it’s only worth it because the government pays for it.

This is interesting. Not a single Nine program in the Tas top 20, compared to 8/20 in the National Regional table.

Even A Current Affair suffers in Tas, no doubt due to the weaker Melbourne news lead-in.

Makes for a compelling reason for Nine to intervene.

ABC 7pm Canberra rates pretty well. You don’t think a strong Canberra 60 comp on 7 or Wine would attract an audience?

Wouldn’t cost any more than the Hobart thing. Though I guess TCN rates reasonably in CBR.

Now is the right time for Nine to launch a new product in Canberra. Otherwise, Seven might beat them to the punch.

Any bulletin would have content for those areas too, not just Canberra specifically. Like how the metros reach beyond their city’s suburbs.

Canberra’s commercial news bulletins always have. WIN certainly does now.

Just as Gold Coast bulletins cover stories that happen over the border in NSW.

ABC does a good job of covering Queanbeyan and Yass, though the ABC “3” bulletin is not on air in Goulburn or the Mountains.

It’s not as if Canberra is a different planet. News directors get it. About a third of the Canberra TV market lives in NSW.

I just saw a Nine News Sport sponsor board air before sport on WIN News.

Interesting. Usually WIN would air their own “WIN Network” branded one. Also the sponsor board didn’t fade out like Nine’s does, cutting back to WIN News.

It aired again tonight. As you can see, it cuts straight from the board to WIN News, unlike on Nine where it fades. It has to be WIN who puts the NINE sponsor boards in, and it is even more strange when it is during WIN News, their own branded product. I have also seen Nine sponsor boards for the block like this, as well as the regular WIN Network ones. :rotating_light:?

It appears that local advertisers get the local branding, while national advertisers are getting the other brand instead. Makes sense from the sponsor point of view, not so much the viewer’s however.

Yes. It seems that WIN aren’t bothering to make national sponsor boards now, instead using the Nine ones for national sponsors and their own ones for local sponsors. It is strange however seeing a 10-style sponsor board one break and a Nine News one the next etc. Speaking of the 10 style, I am surprised Nine let WIN continue to use it instead of their own like Imparja/SCA/NBN.

Could it be a sign that all existing WIN News bulletins may be rebranded as 9 news in future? With the exception of the northern nsw noodle updates?

Doubtful. Nine wouldn’t just let WIN use their brand when they have no control over the product, especially with how much the WIN bulletins have declined over recent years.

It’s the same as when TNT wanted to rebrand to “7News Tasmania” and Seven not letting them. Unless Nine takes full control of news production, nothing’s going to change.

True, but it isn’t designed to look like 10’s to a tee. It’s still unique to WIN.
