Please note: The report includes catch up minutes only and is not restricted to the five metropolitan cities. Live streaming channel viewing is not included. When broadcasters upgrade their video players, player measurement SDKs may take time to reach consumer devices (consumers need to update their apps) and may temporarily result in an under-reporting of a broadcaster video player figures. Refer to the VPM Guidelines at the [OzTAM website] (www.oztam.com.au)
VPM Rating: total minutes played divided by content length (rounded to the nearest '000); Length (mins): duration in minutes of the program content; Minutes: total number of minutes played across measured devices (rounded to the nearest '000); Stream Starts: total number of times the video content began to play. Posted date: the day the video content was first made available to play. Top Programs are for episodes with a minimum length of 15 minutes.

#3

Nine won all markets except Perth that went to Seven. Nine also won all three key demographic groups.

Nine’s best weekly share since week 40 in 2017, Seven’s lowest since Week 1 2018, Ten’s highest since week 5 2018 - outrating every week last year in the ‘official’ ratings period.

#4

And there you have it. The Nine Network will win summer thanks to just two weeks of Tennis. While Seven, which has won more weeks and nights over summer with Cricket, will fail to secure the winning position due to the sheer size of Nine’s victories and coverage.

#5

Same week last year (network share in brackets)
Seven 22.7% (32.0%)
Nine 18.2% (27.2%)
Ten 12.2% (18.6%)
ABC 9.8% (14.7%)
SBS 4.7% (7.5%)

Ten did better than 12 months ago when it had BBL. Nine with its Australian Open coverage had a higher share than Seven at the same time last year when the latter showed the tennis.

#6

No one watches Seven for sports and it’s clear that if any top-rating sports like AU Open aired on Nine or 10 they would get higher ratings than what Seven gets.

AU Open rated lower when on Seven, BBL/Tests rate lower when on Seven.

#7

Well that’s another over reaction. While ratings are lower this year, it’s a bit ridiculous to say “no one” is watching.

The ratings are bigger this year with so many Aussies progressing in the finals. Ratings are always phenomenal when Aussies compete.

#8

It should be noted Nine won the first two summer weeks back in early December without tennis (Seven had day time Test cricket but no prime time BBL yet).

#9

Not a great share for 7’s main channel.

#10

Also noteworthy, even though I’m A Celebrity topped non-news viewing during the week, Network 10 and Ch 10 still came 3rd…

(Though is up on running 4th like they were).

#11

Why do you keep saying this? This is always the case with 10. Celebrity can’t just suddenly give them network or primary wins. It goes for 90 minutes. This is also the case with many of 10’s other shows. 10 don’t win weeks off the back of Masterchef winning its timeslot… or big wins to the Bachelor. Its a given that 10 came third. The important thing to them is the demographics. And the fact that Celebrity has exceeded expectations, won its timeslot and dominated in the demographics would be pleasing 10 and its sponsors.

#12

The fact that 10 is able to hold a loyal audience against tennis and to a lesser extent cricket shows that sports isn’t the be-alls and end-alls. and that there is still plenty of Ch 10 viewers out there.

An all entertainment output for the entire year sounds like a fantastic plan and have the potential to succeed and be profitable instead of the over-priced sports rights that is plaguing Seven and Nine.

#13

Why not? It’s not a crime. It’s a fact.

Sorry if you don’t want me to mention it. It just highlights 10’s hole particularly after 9pm

#14

It’s not that I don’t want you to mention it. It’s just I don’t understand why it’s an issue when 10 has rarely won a night anyway… and as you yourself have mentioned before 10 only care about the demos.

#15

10’s diabolical shares are brought up almost always on the TV Blackbox podcast (Rob/Steve), alluded to by David on TVT, highlighted by Mumbrella and even discussed regularly across particularly the schedule thread here, even NewsWeary made a comment about 10’s low ratings somewhere today.

I’m A Celebrity is rating well against stiff competition, but that from what I can see if where it ends. Otherwise their main channel and network still lost easy to their commercial rivals Nine and Seven respectively.

All could be fixed if they’d offered new, big titles to follow I’m A Celebrity after 9pm, to compliment their new 50 week ratings year.

#16

Not debating that with you. Agree 100% that post 9pm and 6pm are major issues for 10. Just didn’t understand why you were making that about Celebrity rather than stating the issues with the slots you just discussed. Its not just an issue they are having now but an issue they often have all year round. It seems 10 only put an effort in at 8:30 during the months of May-October. Only a few years ago they had CSI NY headlining an 8:30 slot.

#18

Now that’s super impressive. I’m a Celebrity outrating every night of the Australian Open last week and miles ahead in demo shows that their strategy has paid off.

Hopefully their shows will continue to demonstrate growth and give the low rent trash we have on Seven and Nine a good fight.

#19

Is “I’m A Celeb” high class television?

#20

I meant their other shows like Survivor, Masterchef, Takeaway, Ambulance etc.

Celebrity is not my cup of tea but it’s a good show for casual viewing in Summer.
