It was another close week with 1.3 separating Seven and Nine in networks shares while the main channels tied.
There’s a slight possibility for Nine to close the network gap in 7 day consolidated.
Otherwise, not a lot of change from the previous week with the biggest shift Seven slipping by 1 point. Also noted that 10 and ABC main channels tied.
In the key demos Nine won 25-54 while Seven was on top in16-39. Nine won the NRL states while AFL states went to Seven.
LEGO Masters topped the key demos with HYBPA, Big Brother and MasterChef episodes making the top 10.
Reality franchises otherwise dominated the top 20 in 25-54 with news also taking up seven places and AFL ranking tenth. 7Spotlight that ranked 10th in total people missed the top 20 ranking 21st.
That’s a disappointing result for Nine, really, considering they aired the Lego finale and won the majority of nights. Probably losing 16-39s is the biggest surprise last week. Just goes to show their Friday and Saturday programming is not really working as they’d hope. Hopefully David Attenborough can rescue things somewhat - did well last time.
What I found interesting was (courtesy of TVT’s wrap article this morning and I won’t post the actual data as I don’t think I’m allowed), but in the main channel key demos on Friday night, Channel 7 was more than double its nearest competitor in 16-39s (double digits with a 4 in front while the next main channel was way back down in the teens). That’s a horror result and I reckon why Nine overall lost 16-39s last week from this alone?
BB still sitting over 500k, not great total people, but it’s doing really good in the keg demos. Interesting to see the Craig McLachlan interview stay where it is, wondered if it might’ve even been adjusted down, Seven would probably be a bit disappointed it didn’t do a bit higher though.
Friday and Saturday particularly boosting 7mate to another win in total people and 25-54s, but 10 Bold dominating most other nights and 10 Peach taking out 16-39s. Nine’s multis notably struggling on some nights still, even some of the more established ones, doing barely or under 2% one or two nights.
You might want to check those numbers again. And also realise that the infographic you are looking at is only commercial share so not the standard that is usually used in ratings.
Yes, I did realise, sorry I forgot to mention that commercial share. And yes you’re correct don’t know why I said 4 (although it was almost that), 3. But still my original comment stands regarding this night.
@TV.Cynic Also, as mentioned, that 16-39s share and margin on Friday was main channel only, so no doubt it was even higher when adding 7mate (which had AFL in a few markets and a 5%+ share in total people alone) and 7flix to it.
The infograph showed Seven won the week in 16-39s in both network and main channel, so with everything I’ve mentioned above this night seems to have been the reason/decider and only enhanced by Saturday.
Also noteworthy was NRL’s sub-300k total people result, broadcast across Nine’s network. I’m not sure there’s going to be much Nine can do about Fridays, they might need to try to bolster their weeknights and hope they remain on top and pray that Attenborough can work magic on Saturdays.
The reason I even mention all this (apart from my interest/fascination in very specific metrics), is Nine set themselves up so well Sunday - Wednesday (more or less), but whatever good is done then crumbles at the back-end of the week.
Something, especially when it comes to key demos, Sneesby/Healy/Turner can’t ignore, not to mention being the No. 1 for the past couple of years. But if they’re getting the job done/what they need from say Married and Sunday-Wednesday, then I guess that’s what matters.

won’t post actual data as I don’t believe it’s allowed, but it’s somewhat noteworthy
According to RegionalTam (publicly available online), in Regional WA market WIN Bold outranked the main WIN channel in this week
I know this market is a bit different and only gets tiny ratings (usually top program is half of '000), plus the table is consolidated, however viewers are viewers, it’s still a sample and a shocking result!
