Seven wins its sixth week of the survey to draw equal with Nine. Nine had some narrow wins early in the week while AFL gave Seven a big boost on Friday and Saturday. Seven won the AFL markets and 16-39, Nine won NRL territory and 25-54.
Seven’s share was close to its best for the year despite the failure of Blow Up to attract an audience thanks to a better multichannel performance. That included 7Barvo’s highest share so far.
Nine was up slightly on the previous week despite its own reality show problems while 10, ABC and SBS were down slightly.
Farmer Wants a Wife was the top entertainment show of the week while Have You Been Paying Attention? and MasterChef topped all key demos. Travel Guides did well for Nine while ABC’s best was Bluey. Alone Australia agin did well for SBS in the BVOD chart.

At mid-May, it’s tied-up (although still some way to go in the official OzTAM ‘YTD’ with Nine still 1% ahead - which if previous years to go by is a harder climb than looks on paper - especially with Origin around the corner - which should also get a few weeks back for Nine - but after this week looks like on ‘weeks won’ Seven should be leading. More surprised by main channel, where in previous years often it’s been network share that’s been Seven’s saviour and significantly better than main channel, I guess that shows you how much further FTA numbers have declined and how it’s easier for main channels now but not so for m/c.
