The first State of Origin game of the year saw Nine score a year high network share over 43%. It is the highest network share for any network since State of Origin 3 in 2020.

Brisbane delivered the highest share for nine, over 60% with Sydney well over 50%. Nine had a narrow win in Melbourne, while Seven won Adelaide and Perth.

The audience for the SOO game in preliminary numbers was just short of 2 million with 1.911 million tuning in. That compares to the COVID effected first game of 2020 held in November that had 1.598 million. Game one of 2019 had 2.181 million.

Elsewhere, 10’s MasterChef with 532,000 was largely unaffected by the game while Big Brother on Seven slipped to a season low and most ABC programming was well down on recent results.

SOO won its timeslot in Adelaide so it must be the 6pm news which gave Seven the win there.

Very good numbers for the state of origin despite of the lopsided margin. Had QLD Maroons been more competitive the ratings would have gone past 2 million.
Abc news beat the state of origin in Melbourne and Adelaide.

Expected SOO to actually be lower for a variety of reasons, not to mention the big blow out, so Nine/NRL shouldn’t be “disappointed” with that result. Two games to come as well.

It should be noted a share just 3% less than the one achieved last night occurred by another network last Saturday and without a SOO/GF/finale airing. It shows the less competition on other networks (there was still lots last night), the better your shares.

–

All other channels including m/c (like usual on a major sport event night/day) were well down (as Cynic did mention) and really low, 7mate an extremely rare below 2% (although one or two animations still ranked in key demos). Regular NCIS also disappeared from the top of the rankings on 10 Bold.

Haven’t seen this coding before, usually they’re “Ep…” Wonder if this is one of the late night repeats at around 11 or 11:30pm.

Nine’s main channel won in Adelaide, it was Seven’s multis that got them the win.

What numbers about you can’t ask that?

SOO didn’t win its timeslot in Melbourne or is that just a mistake?

Nine may be correct that SOO didn’t win its timeslot in Melbourne. The Melbourne audience of 246,000 is the average over two hours finishing just after 10.10pm, while BB and MasterChef started and finished earlier.

Looks like it was 2nd to ABC as the figures for the 7pm News, 7.30 and Hard Quiz were all higher than the State of Origin game average.

Thought it was way too high.
A few big AFL nights and 7 may have a chance of the week even.

It said timeslot…origins timeslot. ABC News was for 30 mins at 7pm not til 10pm +

And the rest of the show’s on ABC that aired while it was on?
Also ABC News was against the pre match not the match.
