Another closely contested night with Seven narrowly ahead. Seven did best in Perth and Melbourne where it ranked first. Nine was ahead in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. 10s best result was in Brisbane, just 0.3 behind Nine and ahead of Seven.

10 Bold and The Project provided 10 with good numbers again with the 6.30 portion again in the the top 20. I’m A Celebrity was again number one in each market in the demos. 10 News First at 6pm ranked 22nd.

Nine’s movie A Few Good Men was 23rd.

10Bold won multichannels again with 9Gem coming second on the back of its coverage of ATP Cup tennis.
Very close between Seven News and Nine News in Sydney and Melbourne over the hour.

Maybe tennis on the main channel would’ve been better?

I’m a celeb is doing really well this year. I think the cast has really resonated with audiences. It would be really good if it can hold above 700k. Might even get more interest next week as more people get back to work /routine and flick the TVs back on.

The Project is doing well in demos too although I guess not a lot of competition other than News and Sport.

I’m A Celebrity has brought 10 much better numbers than the equivalent week last year. Seven seems to have seems to be most affected.

This is the network average for the week so far

The Project 6:30 wasn’t a one off. It has definitely been doing a lot better this week. I wonder if it has something to do with there being different hosts. It might be something the network could look at in the future. Chris Bath should definitely be given a permanent hosting role on the show. She has been fantastic on the scene.

10Bold did do well last night. But I don’t understand why 10 would have Bull on the main channel and on Bold have NCIS. They seem too similar in audience for me. They need to be better at that. Perhaps they just shouldn’t be showing these US shows on the main channel and just keep them for Bold. I do realise that they probably haven’t got enough content for that but surely there is something they could air.

No but The Project’s competition has been pretty consistent, if not stronger competition as it normally has.

Also worth mentioning the performance of ABC News at 6pm. In a word “woeful” !!

Last night it ranked 72nd. 10 News at 6pm is rating 2.5 times higher and Summer Drum that follows picks up about 80% more viewers.

I don’t think it’s the hosts. I think it’s two fold - there’s a bit more interest with the fires and other big news stories at the moment but also when Ten has other shows that rate (like I’m a celeb) in the schedule it usually gives The Project a boost. I don’t think I’ve flicked on The Project all summer but I’ve had it on every night this week.

They are all very true but I find it strange that The 6:30 portion didn’t get the same sort of boost last year when Celebrity was on. And the show didn’t get a huge boost from the fires last week yet this week its had a big boost. Perhaps it has something to do with Chris Bath being live on the scene this week.

Another factor could be the 6pm news lead in just flows better to The Project than a gameshow did. That kind of makes sense that some of the news audience might be more likely to stay on.

It would have been better to keep Summer Drum at one hour.
