The first Wednesday since May without a program over one million saw many programs down on last week. 6pm News was down by over 100,000 as Nine won the night, steady with last week. No reality on Seven or 10 saw Seven down 2 but 10 managing a small increase. ABC and SBS both up 1 each.

As the only reality franchise last night, The Block was up 50k to its second best Wednesday of the season. Graham Norton was up very slightly as a replacement for Making It that was bumped the previous week to just make the top 20. Seven’s Highway Patrol was third in the 7.30 timeslot.

Hard Quiz on ABC got a boost while Question Everything was up slightly.

Daylight Savings pushed afternoon results down. The Chase and Hot Seat saw their lowest Wednesday’s since March with 10 News below 300k also down to March levels. Nine’s Tipping Point was in the top 20 again with Nine’s Afternoon News missing out this week.

10 Bold had its highest share since the switch to HD.

In the last two weeks, how has it looked overall? A noticable dip, or still steady?

10 Bold has 3.1 last week compared to 3.0 the week before.

Wait… Bull didn’t make the top 20 despite 10 feeling the need to schedule three episodes each Wednesday!

So really it’s been negligible and the audience is maintained. It would be great for them to flick 10Peach to HD and dispense with the SD as well.

Would there be enough bandwidth for Ten to have all four of their channels in MPEG4 HD? Keep a MPEG2 SD version of the main channel for those still watching on equipment from 2007, but convert the rest.

There would definitely be enough to do a straight swap for 10 Peach from SD to HD. 10 Shake is already MPEG 4 so switching that to HD would require taking some bandwidth from the other channels. But Nine manages to do it with HD and SD 9Gem + another SD channel in 9Rush; would have to settle for less than 4Mb/s vision rather than more than 4Mb/s. 9GEM HD usually is running around 3.2 when not showing sport.

Let’s hope they decide to bite the bullet soon. It’s pretty clear by now that the switch made little difference apart from the angry oldies in the Facebook comments.

It will ensure Neighbours will be screened in HD in Australia once again (it is already filmed in HD, and is broadcast in HD in NZ and Britain).

It’s screened in HD on Paramount Plus but yeah I fully supported 10 Peach going HD. Let’s hope!

While there must be some viewers who can’t now watch the channel it is also conceivable that it can pick up (or keep) viewers because of the better quality.
