The cow connects with the regional audience.

#42

What an elitist slur on regional Australia.

#43

Don’t be a cow!

#44

What I hated most about The AFL Footy Show was it seemed to be stacked with Melbourne identities. Sydney people didn’t get a look in.

I still don’t understand your argument about Today.

#45

10 need to get Lisa on a breakfast show in the coming months surely. This is the most clear it’s been that there is a gap in the market for them to swoop right through. I’d go so far as to say, bring in Karl. They’re such a brilliant pair.

#46

While that would be great, how many times do we have to say that Karl is still under contract on Nine? He won’t be moving any time soon.

#47

Wonder why Seven News ran til 7:03 pm last night in Sydney and Melbourne (and possibly other cities)?

Trying to stop people switching to ACA as they’ve missed the beginning of that show? Curious.

#48

They didn’t dump her…

#49

Massive result for Married last night with nearly 1.3m metro already, also the first episode this season to get a market with over 400k.

#50

I wouldn’t be reading too much into the lower premiere figures for Gogglebox. With a 730pm start time on Lofestyle it is directly up against MKR & MAFS. But with no MAFS or MKR on Thursdays, I’m A Celeb is likely to pick up viewers tonight and provide a decent lead in for Gogglebox.
No chance of Gogglebox being cancelled any time soon. It’s cheap to produce and the Fox/10 collaboration has worked well. As for key cast members leaving, some new faces might be a positive.

Seconded!

I think The Today Show think that they have changed the presenters, the graphics and set (another topic) and that’s the only change they have to make to boost the ratings. Fact is: it’s not. They must change the format, as they are stale. Like Good Morning America against NBC Today in 2011/12/13.

Sunrise on the other hand, is GMA, they are people you want to hang out. I have been switching over more and more since Lisa left Today. There was a time I couldn’t tolerate Sam, Kochie and Nat for individual reasons, from around Mel’s 2013 departure till Lisa’s 2017 departure for Today, but nowadays I find them great. I’ve always loved Beretts, Edwina and Sam Mac.

I tried ABC News Breakfast. Not a big fan of Virginia or Michael, but that’s just me.

Larry and Kylie are fantastic, and TMS is really not that much different from Sunrise (except of course, the advertiorials!). There is an obvious reason they have been number one for almost 12 years.

Doesn’t mention Today Extra in front of me!! Let’s just say I don’t like Sonia Kruger or their set. I love DC’s laid back presenting style, and would always watch him if GG or Deb we’re hosting with him while Sonia was busy with The Voice.

Studio 10 was once must-see-TV in the morning for me around 2-3 years ago. But after the extension in July 2017, the new set in October 2017, Brussel Sprouts Gate and Mcknight’s sacking in November 2017 and Jess and Ita’s departures last year, I was put off that completely. What happened last week was another nail in the coffin for me.

Gee that was an essay wasn’t it!!

I enjoy reading more in-depth posts from passionate people.

Very much agree. @blackbox was right when he touched on the appeal of breakfast and morning television being an invitation to spend light-hearted fun with friends - paired of course with news content.

I don’t think Today has got the balance right, which has something to do with the presenters’ personalities, yes. The chemistry isn’t nearly as good as the Sunrise team. But content is important to as much of an extent. Some have made the point of Stevie needing to be out in the field, which is an easy way to make laughs. Maybe instead of simply interviewing your typical internet comic, get them in a game segment too. I dunno.

I’m just expecting Today under Burling as EP will experiment more with how to get the right balance of news and entertainment.
