Nine’s 21st straight daily win with a +30% share. Seven won Perth by 0.1% while Nine won elsewhere.

I think the long wait between season 3 and season 4, and Nine’s decision to let overseas networks to air season 4 first, may have affected the ratings of Doctor Doctor.
MKR edged up from Tuesday’s record low but still trailed well behind MAFS and Survivor.
Mad as Hell’s season premiere was higher than last year’s 569,000 while Hard Quiz’s season figures equalled the season 3 launch in February 2018.

The late start time doesn’t help either. Neither does having to sit through the end of rubbish like MAFS, waiting for it to start.

There was no coding for the 6pm segment so this is for the full 90 minutes.

Low numbers for Nine News - lowest Wednesday result of the year.

At least this year’s ratings prove that MKR does have a fairly locked on fanbase. Trouble is that fanbase is only about 400,000 viewers.

I wonder who thought it was a good idea to premiere Doctor Doctor long after the world has seen Season 4 before Australia? I know they might’ve wanted to capitalise on the MAFS lead-in but so far it doesn’t seemed to have worked. Catch-up numbers will be interesting.

Survivor didn’t gain any new viewers despite the ridiculously overhyped “greatest tribal council ever”. I think it’s core audience is there but some casuals have dropped off this season and viewering numbers will settle around 550k for the season.

For 10 I think they would consider this as a win. A show that consistently pulls 550K every night would be better than their sub-500K performance most nights at around this time last year. Though they certainly wouldn’t want Survivor to drop anymore.

Two seasons a year is too many and the “all-star” edition would not be as popular with many viewers.

Yep agree and if some viewers drop off this season it’s probably going to hurt it even more later in the year when there’s fatigue. It’s going to be hard to promote another season with normal contestants again off the back of a majorly hyped up All Stars as well. So whilst Survivor is doing better now than what Ten usually have this time of the year I do wonder if it’s going to hurt the show in the long run.

Though they did win in Melbourne. Interesting that ABC News in Melbourne beat Seven’s first half figure. Haven’t seen that on a weekday for a long time. Different presenter last night on ABC news in Melbourne.

I just hope 10 are planning something to replace Survivor with next year in Q1.
I think it was fine to use it as a stunt this year but I don’t think it can sustain 2 seasons a year moving forward.

Does that mean it will be removed from the schedule ?

I think Survivor is doing fine considering it’s still summer and the long episodes. Last season was also helped by HYBPA following straight afterwards on Mondays, which it doesn’t have at this time of year (and also made for shorter episodes on Mondays).

Do we have a view as to the length of episodes next week, do they trim down somewhat?

I reckon 10 are buying themselves time and looking at 1 of 2 things - air survivor here going forward if it performs better (it’s not, but still performing very well for 10’s slot in the demos and look at new stripped realities to compete with MAFS.). They have a year, and I’m putting money on House Rules opening 7’s year next year.

Who presented it?

ABC often beat Seven News Melbourne on weekends, although Alicia usually is 50-100k over that.

Paul Higgins.

In the first couple of seasons it was every second episode that was long, but last season most of the episodes were 90mins and pushed back HYBPA to later slot. Sadly I think these long episodes are here to stay for the most part of the season.

At Least it still outrated My Kitchen Rules in it’s Timeslot.
