ABC’s run of good results for the week continues. Up to a 19% share, its best Wednesday since April. SBS also improved as Nine and 10 were unchanged week-on-week. Seven dipped 2 points –1 on the main channel and 1 on 7Mate.

The five city result was close in total people and demos. Nine won the east coast while Seven was over 30% in its wins in Adelaide where AFL was the number two show and Perth. Only 3 points separated the networks in demos with Nine ahead in 24-54 and Seven in 16-39.

Bachelor in Paradise was the only main channel reality, however it lost 110k from the previous week. RBT on Nine also lost 100k at 7.30 while Emergency that followed was down slightly.

Mad as Hell returned with an impressive 690,000. That compares to 588,000 for the premiere of the previous season earlier in the year in February, but is lower than other episodes across 2020.

Update:

The OzTAM table has coding errors from Nine’s Melbourne line-up. Top 20 is

What time was Nines Late News on at last night? Seems pretty high given their schedule after 7.30 wasn’t in the top 20?

Where were RBT and Emergency? I think they both have coding issues because their viewers wouldn’t simply disappear in one week. Nine News Late Edition at No.16 could be the average of Nine’s post-7.30pm line-up.
Bachelor in Paradise is following similar trend to last season, during which the last few episodes rated lower and lower.
Seven could have won the night if the Crows were more competitive against the Demons in the AFL, thus attracting more local viewers to its simulcast of the Fox Footy coverage of the game.

Update: Nine messed up the coding for the night

Last night Melbourne ran RBT at 7.30 and Emergency at 8.30
I’ll assume the late news ran at 9.30 too

10 must be relieved the finale of Bachelor in Paradise is finishing next week.

I actually think they’d be reasonably happy with how it’s done. Not great total people figures, but it’s done well in the demos. Happy to be corrected, but from memory it even beat the BB finale in 16-39’s

oh they would definitely be happy with how it has rated. It has done well. But it has dragged down their shares and 8:30 shows. I think they would be glad to have The Masked Singer back and The Bachelor. I still think Paradise belongs in an 8:30 slot and to be focused on online viewership.

It shows RBT shed 100,000 viewers from last Wednesday and Emergency down 28,000.

Fox Footy’s live doubleheader rated very well nationally.

Surprisingly solid result for HP, considering it was just a re-packaged repeat and did not air in Adelaide.

BIP doing really well in the key demos, but considering its low total people, looks like not many if nobody in the older demographics (compared with MC for example or even Seven and Nine’s current reality shows).

Seven will need big wins the next 3 nights from the AFL, as Nine surely have a significant lead this week.

Well deserved ratings for Mad As Hell. Haven’t laughed that hard in ages.

The also need to stop airing The Front Bar at 8.30 in Melbourne if there’s an AFL game on Fox Footy at the same time. It would have rated the same or better at 10.30.

The Front Bar ranked 25th. In Melbourne, the only market it made the top 20, the show was 14th.

The Fox Footy coverage of the AFL would have ranked 20th in Melbourne if on FTA .

Nine’s Late Edition news was actually 22nd.

TFB ratings seem to be down this year, even with no competition from a rival football show.

However coronavirus’ impact with the AFL season and having it bounce around timeslots, 10’s reality offerings as well as last night going up against a live game would no doubts contributing factors.

Wednesday Nine?

Interesting it’s on the main channel in Brisbane tonight.

@TV.Cynic alluded Harry Potter bombed hard last week in Brisbane. Seven probably thought live AFL wouldn’t do much worse? It’s a thriller tonight, I wonder if even 50k would be better than the corresponding timeslot result a week ago?

However, Seven and Nine usually always avoid AFL and NRL going head-to-head on main channels in one market, though Brisbane Broncos aren’t playing.
