10 scores a win last night recording its best Wednesday share of 2020 with the top main and miltichannel of the night. Nine was a close second as Seven and ABC lost share from the previous week. 10 won in Sydney and Melbourne, Nine in Brisbane and Seven in Adelaide and Perth. 10 was nine points clear of second placed Nine in 25-54 and 16 points clear in 16-39.

MasterChef was again over one million to lead the 7.30 timeslot. Doctor Doctor was up 50,000 from the previous week while Britain’s Got Talent shed 130,000. The Weekly did well for ABC with 611,000. That compares to the previous season’s 583,000 last March.

The Secrets She Keeps missed the top 20 again but got much better results to rank in the top 10 of this week’s key demo results well ahead of Doctor, Doctor.

Is there some sort of mistake. I dont really understand how 10 won the night when only Masterchef won its timeslot. Did Secret She Keeps do ok?

Big audience for Nine News in Melbourne, thanks to Hot Seat which was steady from Tuesday (and posted its biggest 5.30pm audience since August 2016). A new batch of episodes of The Chase can’t come soon enough for Seven to stave off Hot Seat’s ratings revival. (I understand Seven has been airing more repeats than new episodes of The Chase for the past month or so)
Seven’s Harry and Meghan special flopped.

I’m sure you don’t need Cynic to do calculations for you :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Look at the close margins between 7-7:30pm, then the margin between 7:30pm and whenever MC finished (the very low late night audiences then wouldn’t matter). As well as 10 Bold with NCIS and NCIS: LA.

Seven and Nine may command the first hour of prime time, but last night their particularly 7:30pm offerings vs MC for over 1 hour did not match it at all.

And the shares were close, it’s not like 10 had a landslide.

I agree.

I wish OZTAAM released the ratings by timeslot

EG:

6:00PM
SEVEN NEWS 1,200,000
NINE NEWS 1,150,000
10 NEWS FIRST 375,000
THE DRUM 210,000
MASTERMIND 111,000

So we could see what rates by timeslot

Exactly, yes 7 and 9 were well ahead of 10 at 6pm, but that was for a half hour slot, then the gap narrowed at 6:30, by 7pm there was very little difference in % then for the 90 mins after Masterchef was more than double it’s competitors, then after that the % shares were close again.

Doctor Doctor isn’t really awful numbers when you consider the treatment its had, (timeslot changes, taken off air mid season, already screened overseas).

I am talking about 10’s main channel. It hasn’t got anything to do with Bold…

Look I am not saying its incorrect and its hard to judge. But 10 lost 6-7 by a significant margin probably the same margin they won the 7:30-9:00 margin. They lost to 9 between 7-7:30 and then Paramedics seems to have beaten Secret She Keeps quite significantly. So I find it confusing to see how they won. Not to mention Talent beat Secret She Keeps as well.

Are they out of space? Or do you mean astrologers?

Nine News was the No.1 program across the East Coast and in Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane.

Nine News 6.30 was the No.2 program across the East Coast and in Sydney and Melbourne.

A Current Affair was a timeslot winner across the East Coast and in Melbourne & Brisbane.

Hot Seat won the gameshow battle across the East Coast and in Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane.

Hot Seat enjoyed its best ratings since 2016.

From 10

Channel 10:

  • #1 channel of the night.
  • #1 channel in under 50s and all key age groups (25 to 54s, 16 to 39s and 18 to 49s).
  • Up 36% compared to the same night in 2019.

Network 10:

  • #1 network of the night.
  • #1 network in under 50s and all key age groups.
  • Up 24% compared to the same night in 2019.

MasterChef Australia:

  • Biggest Ep 13 audience since 2017.
  • Up 58% compared to Ep 13 in 2019.

The Project 7pm:

  • #1 across its timeslot in under 50s and all key age groups.

  • Full hour: Up 66% compared with its 2019 average.

The Secrets She Keeps:

Note that 10 was ahead of Seven and Nine from 7:30pm to at least 10pm and competitive at 7pm ahead of Seven. From 7.30 to 9pm 10 had more people watching than the combined audience of Seven and Nine.

Ok! Great! I like to see aussie drama Do well. And scripted rises 25% with 7 day, at a minimum

Good to see Doctor Doctor increase its audience. Hopefully that will encourage the networks to show dramas in earlier timeslots instead of being buried behind whatever reality they have.

Masterchef did very well against moderate competition. Britain’s Got Talent suffered a massive drop off last night, while the Harry and Meghan special got the ratings it deserved.

Great to See Channel 10 win more nights thanks to MasterChef. MasterChef did fantastically well in its 7:30pm timeslot and won all 3 demos. Channel 10 want to be more competitive and they’ve achieved it by winning the night. Ten’s primary channel just beat Nine’s primary channel.

I know some were critical on the encores on Saturday but clearly it has worked if there was an increase.

I was talking about 10’s main channel too, obviously. I was just giving factors that contributed to them winning both network and main channel.

Sydney shifts back to 9NEWS. Nine News Brisbane trying to create a winning streak.

Oh ok no worries didn’t get that as you mentioned 10bold, so wasn’t so obvious.

Big spike in viewers for Nine News Melbourne last night. Can’t all be down to Hot Seat as it’s the only night it has happened this week. It’s an odd one given there were no huge local news stories.

10’s win even more impressive considering their 3 channels vs each other station with 4 or even 5.

TSSK doing okay in overnight numbers to only just miss the top 20, hopefully adding more viewers in encore / catch-up / time shifting etc, but one would’ve hoped it would be doing a bit better with the MasterChef lead in. Demos seem okay too as TVcynic notes.

In saying that, I think it would’ve done better at the beginning of the year off the back of a show like Survivor - IMO a drama like 5 Bedrooms is more suited to the MasterChef audience.

Unfortunately production for Five Bedrooms season 2 was halted to coronavirus, otherwise 10 would be screening it right now.
