#2

The ABC rules Wednesday night again.

A shame that the ARIAs can’t attract a bigger audience but not bad over nearly three hours. It did better than a lot of shows Nine has been screening lately.

#3

Nine would be happy with those numbers, esp. given that it cleaned up in the younger demos. The ABC Wednesday night lineup are consistent winners but don’t do particularly well in the demos.

#4

Firstly, does 10 NEWS FIRST seem a bit higher than usual?

Secondly, Pointless is absolutely dragging that 6pm half hour down. Surely it would make more sense for 10 to run with more news in the 6pm hour providing a better flow on from NEWS FIRST and a better lead in to the Project 6:30.

I don’t mind Pointless, but it just isn’t working.

ABC on fire on a Wednesday night.

#5

Higher than normal numbers for news especially Sydney where 9 News came out on top though 7 News recorded its highest Wednesday audience of the year and for 9 it was their second highest. Ten’s Sydney bulletin recorded its equal highest weekday rating for the survey. In Brisbane, Seven News was well ahead of Nine for bush fire coverage.

#6

I actually watched some of the ARIAs last night and it wasn’t too bad. I haven’t bothered watching for many years - mainly because they were rubbish - but this year seemed quite a lot better, with people actually dressing up and making an effort to look good (aside of one/two highly noticeable people who the media refer to as ‘socialites’ because there’s no other category suitable).

We’ve got some pretty good talent coming out of Australia at the moment and it’s great that radio is actually supporting these acts rather than ignoring them.

#7

Sunrise managed 300000+ viewers yesterday with extended coverage on the Sydney storm. @TV.Cynic Do you know who won in Sydney?

#8

Up by 30,000 from Tuesday in Sydney which was probably due to people tuning in re the weather event.

#9

Exactly and many people left work earlier or were at home when on most other days they would not be able to tune into news that early.

#11

Sunrise won Sydney. Today won in Brisbane.

#12

I really enjoyed the ARIAs this year so glad to see it did pretty well especially in younger demos. It has been a big year for Aussie music and it was good to see quite a number of different acts up there that have had an impact in music this year (compared to some previous years which were dominated by Triple JJJ nobodies). The performances were mostly good and international guests were fantastic. Love Rita Ora!

#13

Storms definitely got the viewers tuning into Sydney news bulletins last night - some of the highest figures I’ve seen in a while!

And would you look at that? A very close race for the 6.30pm half with Seven’s figures increasing and Nine’s decreasing on the 6pm half figures. Hmm…

But after 7.30pm, average figures for just about everything else. Mad As Hell or Hard Quiz appearing to be the top pick for entertainment programming in most metro markets except Brisbane.

#14

Blind Date barely rated above Pointless last night and should be removed immedietely. How many episodes are there left? Maybe it should move to 10 Peach.

#15

SBS’s new boxing drama On the Ropes was literally on the ropes last night, it got less viewers than many multichannel programs.
