Married at First Sight, MKR, Hard Quiz and The Weekly all slipped from last week. Bondi Rescue up a little while The Front Bar was steady (in Melbourne) and beat AFL Footy Show yet again.
The final ever episode of Get Krack!n received heaps of praise on social media last night but didn’t make the top 20.

Law and order SVU continue to drag 10 down further. I just don’t know why they are settling with it.

No surprise re: Get Krackins numbers. Watched my first episode last week and was really disappointed in the entire episode. Was the first series better quality because the jokes were fresher but they’ve ran through everything mimicking the morning shows that nothings actually resembling a morning show now?

Bondi did *well do stay above 300k for both episodes, if it wasn’t for the diabolical numbers of changing rooms, I’d shake my head at poor 10.

Married AFS helped Nine to win all markets except Perth, though Seven was boosted by The Front Bar in especially Melbourne with The Footy Show performing poorly.

In Melbourne: Front Bar ranked 2nd, The Footy Show just 23rd
Adelaide: Front Bar 14th, Footy Show 17th
Perth: Front Bar 15th, Footy Show 45th.

Overall in the 5 cities The Footy Show ranked 40th

The Footy Show won’t last the season with these numbers. Under 100k in Melbourne.

Amazing figures for The Front Bar. I want to make it clear before discussing this that I am not taking anything away from its great figures. However, for 7 being so dominant in Adelaide and Perth the figures for The Front Bar are somewhat concerning. I wonder if the show is too Melbourne centric for those markets. Could 7 look at airing a local version of the show. For example the SA version could be hosted by Ryan Fitzgerald. I am not sure of comedians who come from WA but I am sure there are some.

Just on Adelaide and Perth in general, outside of Seven News and TT, nearly all programs are under 100k in both markets, even Seven’s MKR (Adelaide), BH&G and H&A.

When any other show does anything over 100k these days in Adelaide and Perth (such as Married recently) you know it’s rating big.

So @turdall I wouldn’t be focusing too much on the figures for The Front Bar in Adelaide and Perth, they’ve been higher before, 60k last week for one.

I think you are looking at the wrong time of the year though Sully. If you go back and look at previous years shows like House Rules, Bride and Prejudice etc were very strong in those markets. At the moment Married is dominating. But even last year The Front Bar seemed to struggle in these markets which is very strange when 7 are so strong in those markets.

And still you look at MKR in those markets and they are a lot closer to Married than in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. (50k in Adelaide and 30k in Perth)

That’s why I said “these days”, each passing year ratings are going down, down (no Coles quips please)

Sorry I am a bit confused as there is still an obvious 7 bias in those markets. Today Tonight, 7 News, Home and Away (1st in Perth and 2nd in Adelaide behind ABC News) and even MKR are still stronger in those markets than any other.

Very soft numbers for AFL Footy Show where it ranked in 40th spot. The Front Bar is doing fine winning in its 9PM Timeslot. Under 100k Melbourne viewers watched this AFL Footy Show and it shows the way people are turning off this show and migrating to the front bar, which has success.
Last year, Nine’s NRL Footy Show had a revamp with Erin Molan replacing Fatty as host (and going on maternity leave) but returned in late August. The revamped NRL footy Show took a massive hit last year with record low numbers in Sydney & Brisbane. Sadly, this show was axed.
My tip. Will be axed in 5 weeks due to low numbers.

I would agree that The Front Bar is often too Melbourne centric. However, I’m not sure having localized versions of the show would work for two reasons:

  1. One of the key reasons behind TFS’ success is the chemistry which Andy, Mick and Sam have. It would be hard to replicate that for each different version of the show you have
  2. Would it be commercially viable (from both a ratings and advertising perceptive) for a potential local SA/WA version of the show to replace TFS’ as it currently airs? My thought would be that those localized versions would need to air in addition to the Melbourne version at probably a different timeslot (eg; after Friday Night Football)

Judging by last night’s figures, those who watched the Footy Show last week but decided not to last night didn’t go to The Front Bar but elsewhere.

You are probably right about this. I have to admit I haven’t watched a lot of it. But I have heard it is great. Perhaps they need to look at getting some interstate guest players.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be commercially viable. They can commission local editions of the footy show during the day and on the weekend. They also have news programs that have state based teams. Why can’t they do the same for a primetime program?

Would 7 consider doing a Brisbane/Sydney version for the nrl?

Does anyone know if the Today Show has slipped under 200,000 people?

They might consider it but I just don’t think the audience is there for it. It’s hard to describe but the NRL fan base doesn’t seem to connect with those sort of shows as much midweek - by which I mean the casual fan tunes out during the week while AFL fans are always connected to their sport and team, much more engaged. (The Fox League output rates alright but that’s a bolted on audience). Maybe it’s an untapped market but I don’t see it working.

Today has averaged below 200,000 every week so far this survey.

Any ideas for an anchor and comedians?
