Nine’s had its best Wednesday result since the Australian Open, up 2 percentage points from last Wednesday. This was largely at the expense of 10 that dropped more than 2 points. ABC got a lift with Seven and ABC showing small drops.
Nine’s best result came in Brisbane where it was 12 points ahead of Seven while 10 was within 1 point of Seven in SEQ. Best number for Seven was, as usual Perth, where it was 3 points clear of Nine.
Married At First Sight posted a 70k increase from the previous Wednesday while MKR was up 37k and Survivor down 20k.
The fourth episodes of Hard Quiz and Mad As hell for 2020 both scored season highs. Mad As Hell ranked 10th in 25-54 with Hard Quiz 14th. That compared to MKR in 12th place. Doctor, Doctor dropped to a season low.

Survivor finished early last night (as there was no reward challenge) which might have explained the drop.
Massive result for Nine in Brisbane.

10 is being let down for the post 8:30/9:00 content again. This is something that has been happening in Q1 for the last 5 years or so. 10 needs to invest in Q1 next year. How hard would it be doing another light entertainment show, Shark Tank, a drama and a chat show?

Why would that cause it to drop? I’m more likely to watch a shorter episode.

This will just encourage these realities to remain at 90 mins, as finishing 30 mins earlier costs points. Yes the problem should be fixed by having stringer orograms that follow, but having the last 20 mins of MAFS against 200k while that rates 1.1 mil is costly.

Season 11 of Gogglebox had 163,000 - that compares to the Season 9 February season premiere (139,000) and Season 10 (August) with 184,000.
The Survivor audience was pretty much on par with the other Wednesday episodes. The shorter episode length, however, caused 10’s share to drop more than 2 points. That would encourage 10 to stick with the longer episodes as per …

Unfortunately I don’t think you represent the majority of the Australian FTA audience. I don’t think the Australian Survivor is made for the typical survivor diehard fan.

I’m not referring to Survivor I’m talking about shows in general. Surely any show that is 100+ minutes won’t have as high an average as a 75 min show. You have to keep the audience for the longer duration. I just don’t get the comment that a longer episode would get more viewers? I’m not sure many people start watching a show at the 75 minute mark.
Honestly the numbers with Survivor eps fluctuate only around 50k anyway. It’s barely even worth noting. It has less than half the audeince of MAFS.
Or maybe stop relying on 1 show to get an audience and have stronger performing 8.30pm shows. HYBPA for example grows from it’s lead in so Ten would have a bigger share if they had shorter Survivor and then HYBPA afterwards on a Monday than what they are currently getting with 100+ min Survvivor eps.

And that it’s what they do in August/September sometimes when hybpa follows survivor.
It’s not the survivor number people are meaning today though, it’s the number 10 had between 8:45-9:15 was 300k less than last week because Survivor was shorter that people are commenting on regarding 10’s % point.
Also as for the people not tuning in at the 75 min mark, well they sure do. That’s why all these shows always have these voted out/elimanated sections in the ratings etc. Because that’s when the episode peaks, people tuning in for the cliffhangers.

Australians seem to prefer the longer episodes. The shorter episodes of Survivor have consistently rated on average lower than the longer ones.
Far easier and financially viable to extend an existing show by 15 - 20 minutes than to make 2 shows.

i am in the outer here, but i do wish that ALL reality shows are shorter in length. Am not a fan of dragging out reality shows for longer than required.
But at the same time, if ratings prove that some of these shows are rating through the roof, then go again, milk it while it lasts.

I’m with you, the shorter episodes are usually better quality, i think everyone agrees with that, but i think If you put your network hat on i fully get why they go for so long, keep the viewers from potential switching

I’ve noticed that this season, Survivor often finishes at a very similar time to MAFS - so when MAFS finishes past 9pm, so does Survivor.

Not last night. MAFS went for about 25 mins longer than Survivor.

Yes, this and next Wednesday Survivor was scheduled to finish at 8:45 (no reward challenge) but the rest of the episodes that had 9pm scheduled as the finish time have usually managed to finish very close to when MAFS does.
