Seven won the last Wednesday of the ratings year – its third consecutive win this week winning across all markets. However, Nine was the winner in the key demo groups though in a close result in 25-54, less than 3 points separated the three commercial networks.

Week-to-date Nine is on 29.9% with Seven on 27.0%.

The ARIA Awards failed to deliver for Nine ranking 20th for the night, below 300k in the 5 city market. That compares to 2019’s audience of 413,000. The result is also less that the 2013 result of 337,000 and 2012’s 304,000 when the awards were presented on 9Go!. In 25-54 the telecast ranked 16th and in 16-39 it was 11th.

Elsewhere most other prime time shows improved without State of Origin as competition. ABC’s Gruen and Hard Quiz topped the entertainment offerings.

This has to be one of the lowest rating ARIA Awards in recent history, even beaten by the debut of another Jamie Oliver cooking show. Pretty embarrassing for Nine and the ARIA. Could it be lack of atmosphere due to no live audience? Or due to a large number of nominees who are not well known?
The first WBBL semi final rated well, pushing 7mate to No.2 in multichannels, just 0.1% behind 10 Bold.

I think the whole ARIA Awards show was a bit of a mess. I struggled to stay interested with all the canned applause and fake laughs inserted. The live crosses to nominees on Zoom or Skype were awful and glitchy. There were also a lot of mistakes made which made the whole show look unprofessional.

They saved the big “I Am Woman” tribute to the end which sadly hardly anyone would have seen. They should have shown that early on.

This year ARIA Awards rated much lower than 2019, and 2018 where it just ranked in top 20. It was beaten by 7:30, Highway patrol special and even Jamie Oliver.
1st Wbbl semi final between stars and scorchers did well on 7mate with Melbourne being the strongest market.

Lucky for 9 the other commercials were super low also it still managed 16% main Channel.

I agree with @JBar. Every guest mentioned the lack of audience right after fake applause, the volume for the video links was clearly terrible so they tried to cover it with applause, which might have seemed like the applause was drowning out the audio, but it’s most likely just covering muffled silence.

However it still shows, that awards shows could’ve gone ahead, cough cough logies.

OK results for Gruen and Hard Quiz, but a pretty ordinary performance for just about everything else on TV last night.

With less than 300k for last night’s telecast and generally less than impressive ratings for telecasts on both Nine and Ten (can’t remember Seven ever having them) in recent years, surely the ARIA Awards should be multichannel fodder these days? I mean honestly, even a movie probably would’ve done better!

Gee, not good for Seven in the 4pm-5pm slot! Probably because of the 3pm lead in I imagine which gives Nine a boost.

Seven are lucky that a lot of viewers tune in for The Chase Australia.

Remembering that Nine Afternoon News is at 5pm in Adelaide. But, yes, Tipping Point is doing very well.

Seven will probably just have to persist with the UK Chase and hope that its numbers improve. Or perhaps they could acquire another UK game show for the 3pm hour.

They really don’t have any other options for the 3pm slot that will be competitive against a dominant Tipping Point.

10 Shake in danger of slipping to last behind NITV?

They should have had more performances like this throughout the telecast. In my opinion the ARIAs this year really should have been more of an opportunity to showcase Australian artists rather than try to be it’s usual typical awards show without the audience and atmosphere.

The problem with the ARIAs these day too is that generally some artists that are relatively unknowns to the general public seem to do well. Still I enjoyed it for the most part.

They are putting South Park repeats up against Simpsons/Family Guy repeats on 7mate so the audience is going to be split.

10shake diabolical ratings.

Could’ve been worse - 0.2%, 0.1% :stuck_out_tongue:

But in all seriousness, I reckon everyone on here is being a bit quick in taking an aim at 10 Shake’s ratings. They’ve only been up and running for a short time and it will take time for them to raise their ratings.

I’ve been hoping for a 0.0 rating so I can trot out a gag about double donuts and shakes.

Seven News Melbourne had a win at 6:00, with Seven News and Nine News Melbourne seeming to tie at 6:30.
Seven News Brisbane won the 6:00 timeslot, with Nine having the lead at 6:30.
Seven News Adelaide won at 6:00 by a fair margin, but narrowly lost to Nine at 6:30.

Is it necessary to repeat these stats every day? We can see them in the table.
