The Data may not be reproduced, published or communicated (electronically or in hard copy) in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of OzTAM. “Overnight” figures include “Live” (programs broadcast during the 2am-2am broadcast day) and “As Live” (programs recorded and then watched within the same broadcast day). “Consolidated” figures include Live, As Live and “Time Shift” (programs recorded and then watched within seven days of the initial broadcast).

A very busy day of ratings to unpack. Seven won thanks to news, Farmer Wants a Wife and the first prime time Olympic event. Seven easily won all markets including Perth with a +40% share. It was Seven’s best Wednesday of the year and Nine’s lowest of this ratings season.

Another night of big news numbers as Farmer Wants A Wife concluded with 853,000. That compares to the first season on Seven last year that concluded with 923,000. FWAW ranked 7th in 25-54 just below The Project 7pm.

Things didn’t go well for 10 with the launch of The Bachelor the lowest so far for the franchise with just 482,000. That is down from last year’s comparatively low number of 681,000. The show did manage to win the key demographics - the only entertainment offering in the top 5 of all demos. 10 was most competitive in the 16-39 age bracket where it was a close second to Seven.

On Nine a repeat of Travel Guides did fairly well

In a somewhat surprising result Nine News beat Seven at 6pm in Brisbane though Seven was slightly ahead by the second half hour. Overall the afternoon coverage of the Olympic bid from 4pm came in in 19th place in Brisbane. That was below 10 News and Hot Seat for the last hour.

Seven managed to code the Olympics into 2 segments that gave Seven great later evening shares.

Good numbers for seven thanks to Australia v NZ women’s football and farmer finale.
Big numbers for adelaide’s News.
A soft start to The Bachelor though it did well in the 16-39 demos.

What on earth was 10 thinking by launching a new season of The Bachelor on the same night as Farmer Wants a Wife finale? It was a dump move given 10 has previously scheduled the premiere date of MasterChef away from My Kitchen Rules and Married at First Sight. To have The Bachelor even beaten by a repeat episode of Travel Guides is more embarrassing.

Seven News Brisbane didn’t get much boost in the ratings for its coverage of the city’s 2032 Olympics bid.

Not a good choice given there’s likely a pretty decent crossover in viewership.

Interesting that 10 News First in Brisbane beat the olympics bid at 5pm. Given only one block of the news is local and prerecorded.

If the launch figures for The Bachelor is a sign of things to come, stick a fork in it because it’s done.

No idea why they launched it when Farmer wants a Wife is still on air. Unlike Beauty and the Geek the audience for The Bachelor has a pretty similar overlap with FWAW. 10 Should’ve done Survivor Sunday-Thursday this week and then do The Bachelor next week.

Another season high for Neighbours with 159,000 for their big storyline piquing viewer interest.

I’m not sure that is true. It’s online figures have been impressive in the past. It’s just probably a case the FTA figures will never be good enough

Very true, and if it can still win the demos against a show that had double it’s viewers for a finale, it’s 7 who should have the bigger disappointment from its show.

That was a bit of a crash back for Home and Away. Such a strange huge bump and drop off. Especially as it had the same shows either side of it and with bigger audiences.

Looking at the Brisbane afternoon numbers again. It looks like Seven had the edge for the 4pm hour but at 5pm more people were tuning in to Hot Seat an 10 News.

Looking at the peak audiences that was easily Seven News at 6.30.

10 should’ve delayed Bachelor until after the Olympics. Good numbers for 7 with the Olympic Football Tournament and the Brisbane 2032 Host Announcement plus Farmer finale.

Nah networks can’t keep stopping when another network has a big show. No guarantee bachelor wouldn’t pull the same numbers after Olympics.

Clearly not a smart move to launch The Bachelor against the Farmer wants a Wife finale. They appeal to similar audiences.

Yeah i wonder whether they should have just done 4 episodes of Survivor this week and launch The Bachelor on the Thursday night.

We can no longer look at overnights. Views on 10Play would be much higher now plus catch up etc.

Although I am of the view all these shows should be axed. Can’t stand the genre.

Tonight and catch up may paint a different picture without Farmer competition……it’s numbers may also be impacted as the demo watching is not at work having Bachelor water cooler chats due to COVID restrictions……possibly seen as weekend catch up viewing for something to do??

Not wise to launch The Bachelor against Farmer. I’m predicting this season to be a fizzer. Jimmy is a snoozefest

I would’ve preferred to have seen the Farmer reunion this week, rather than after the Olympics. Will be interesting to see how it rates against what should then be an established season of Bachelor.
