#2

Married maintained its momentum and gave Nine another massive share. Bondi Rescue did 120,000 better than Changing Rooms but only lifted 10’s share by 1% with The Project again the best for 10. MKR unable to lift out of the 700,000s and down from last week. Talking Married makes it to the top of the multichannels.

#3

Same same, nothing new.

#4

Bondi Rescue should never have been renewed, it is about as useful as tits on a bull for Ten’s ratings performance nowadays. They’ve slumped post Celeb and are in a hole I can’t see a way out of until MAFS ends. The only bright spot could be if Dancing builds or stabilises where it debuted.

#5

The sales to 100 countries is enough to keep it going for a long time and is often the biggest show on 10 Bold.

#6

That and/or Takeaway debuts strong and Ambulance maintains last season’s audience.

#7

I don’t care. Leave it on 10Bold then. It is not a performer on the main channel and should not be in primetime.

#8

It’s a huge profit maker though and sold to many countries across the world and provides content for the digital channels. Would be stupid to not renew it.

#9

Why do you care so much?

The show had next to no publicity for its relaunch and was a last minute fill-in fo Changing Rooms which did worse. Give it a chance to build.

#10

This has to be MKR’s worst week on record in terms of ratings. Seven won’t be happy with three nights in the 700,000s plus a timeslot loss in Perth.
The massive lead-in from Married at First Sight didn’t help New Amsterdam very much.
Surprised to see a documentary on a chocolate factory making inside the top 20.

#11

I have conceded on the fact it makes sense to renew it if Ten profits from global sales. If it’s just the production company then I can’t see how Ten would benefit from global sales but I have little knowledge of this so correct me or advise if you know more.

I want the Ten Network to be more successful so it can compete with Seven and Nine more effectively. More competition means better content and that’s good for audiences and the free tv industry. Keeping poor performers that have proven unable to attract sizeable, timeslot winning (or even near that level of performance) audiences is not a way to be successful. This wait and see approach is not relevant here because when out of previous seasons has it performed remotely well?

#12

I watched that last night so not so surprised.

#13

JBars right about the onsell but you’re right its not a 7:30pm show on main channel anymore, however it is unfortunately the best of a bad bunch of options for the Wednesday slot. If they didn’t screw with the format of biggest loser so much they could’ve still aired that as a shortened stripped version like Celeb. I know people keep going on about Big Brother but I’m just not sure that would be competitive enough either but it would fill a hole thats for sure.
Ten bumps shows to wrong timeslots, it’s Encore central in primetime, so it’s not all down to just the 7:30 program, no-one knows which one is on until the night, or if its even a repeat.

Home and Away still low but steady.

#14

One of the problem with factuals in the modern TV climate is that there is no reason to watch them live. They aren’t talked about in workplaces the next day, you don’t live tweet along with them.
If you are into that kind of thing, they are an easy watch on catch-up (and with less ads)

#15

From Tim Worner, who now appears to be changing goal posts to cover up MKR audience declines in live viewership: “When we look at overnight ratings we are looking at one aspect of a show’s performance. For a show like My Kitchen Rules , the overnight rating is one small part of the story in terms of the exploitation of that IP. It is going to be watched on BVOD, and the MKR audience on BVOD is close to 80% up this year. It will also be watched in over 100 territories because we are selling the finished version of the Australian show. Also local versions of the format are being made in 12 different territories.”

[Worner noted Seven owns and produces MKR , while Endemol Shine Australia produces MAFS for Nine]

#16

This is what I’ve been saying about the Project for yonks. All I used to hear was it does Ok in the demos. Now it’s the somewhat hollow - it’s their highest rating show & what would you replace it with. Not good enough. It sets the whole network up for failure. Last night’s ratings in every city , Melbourne aside, were dire. That cannot be sustainable.

#17

Talk about spin! MKR is down 200,000-300,000 each episode compared to last year. Yesterday’s number was the second lowest ever recorded after Monday’s result.

#18

Agree, a downward spiral is never a good thing and while the BVOD figures may be up, that growth is nowhere near enough to replace the lost audience from live viewership. A second season later this year, in whatever form, will likely exacerbate the problems. It’s a show in season 10, a good innings so not sure anything can be done as everything runs its course (except maybe The Block for now).

Ten are doing a big marketing push to address this apparently. Will wait and see if it bears fruit but the brand (and talent attached) has strong recognition in the market and it would be silly to slash it given the hours it fills and lack of alternative programming. As we’ve seen with Pointless replacing Family Feud, sometimes it is better the devil you know.

#19

This kind of undermines your arguments about Bondi Rescue?

#20

The Project rated higher than Bondi Rescue didn’t it? And did you read where I said “given the hours it fills and lack of alternative programming”? Not comparing apples with apples.
