Nine managed its fourth win of week 21 but with its lowest share of the week so far. Nine was down slightly from last week while there was a tie for number one main channel between Nine and Seven. Seven and 10 saw no change from last week while ABC’s multis gave the network a small boost.

Nine won all markets except Perth that was won by Seven. Seven won all key demos with 10 ranked second.

Travel Guides on Nine was the top entertainment property for Wednesday, even with last week. MasterChef improved to post its highest Wednesday audience of the season and pull ahead of Big Brother that posted its lowest Wednesday result so far. Later, Doctor Doctor was up slightly.

ABC had mixed results with Hard Quiz slipping as The Weekly posted a 30k increase from last week.

Neck and neck between Seven News and Nine News in Melbourne.

That’s a good result for Travel Guides, ahead of ABC’s comedy shows, it’s done very well, I wonder if Nine will commission a new season (I guess difficult with coronavirus).

Also a good result for Seven, winning key demos from Big Brother (which also topped all of them) ahead of 10 and MasterChef, even though the latter was ahead slightly in total people.

The pattern seems to be Nine winning Sunday to Wednesday (although Seven have had a few wins in there the past couple of months) and Seven then winning Thursday to Saturday. But the margins for the latter seem to be far greater, pushing Seven ahead, even in key demos some weeks. Will be interesting to see if Nine can hold on this week or not.

Poor result for Seven News in Brisbane - lowest Wednesday in 10 weeks. While 10 News First QLD ranks 3rd in Brisbane, just ahead of ABC News in the raw data.

Numbers were particularly low in Sydney where Today had a rare though narrow win while Sunrise won all other markets including a rare SEQ win.

Looking at the show rankings on the commercials at 7.30 in each market.

The demos for travel guides was unimpressive.

Yeah Nine can lay claim to the top rating entertainment show but it’s 3rd in the demos behind Big Brother and Masterchef. I guess the only reasonable explanation to that is because the show is more broad-skewing whereas Big Brother is a show made for the demos.

Did Studio 10 get a bump in ratings with Beau cohosting?

Yes. Highest rating of the week, up 20% on Tuesday and even bigger from Monday; higher than when he was on a couple of weeks ago.

These two have never been so close. its coming down to 1-2k per night.

Even though there wasn’t a lot of difference between the top shows, Travel Guides ranked 8th in 25-54 just below The Project 7pm.

Didn’t sunrise also have a win one day last week?

Hey TV Cynic do you know how the first semifinal of Eurovision rated at 5 am?

The first semi ranked 259th in total people for the average across the show. Comparing to other shows it had about 55% of the audience of Studio 10.

In 25-54 it ranked slightly better at 217th but in 16-39 there almost no-one watching across the whole broadcast ranking 412th.

In the peak audience measure that would have been to see the results, the show ranked 237th; the number was double that of the full broadcast average.

Compared to the 2019 semi, the average rating was 40% lower. In 2019 it ranked 193rd with a receptible peak audience ranking 150th.
