MKR slumps to its lowest rating ever – the only time ever in the 600,000s giving Seven its lowest Wednesday share of this survey.

Third highest Married AFS this season and highest outside of a Sunday episode sees Nine 9% points ahead. Hugh drop to New Amsterdam though with many going to Talking Married on 9Life. Bondi Rescue up 60,000 from last week.

#3

Seven should be worried about MKR’s recent ratings. The Open House concept is a fail and viewers want to see the show speed up with eliminations instead.
The repeat of Jimmy Barnes: Working Class History was no match for New Amsterdam.
Australia in Colour stays in the top 20 for the second week.
Impressive audience for session 1 of the fifth and deciding ODI between India and Australia, despite Australia suffering a late batting collapse before posting 272 from their 50 overs.

#4

How can MAFS still be smashing it? It seems to be the same thing every night but viewers are lapping it up and it seems to be having its biggest season yet.

I don’t think they’ve promoted it very well. The Instant Restaurant rounds have been more popular in the past than elimination cook-offs. The Open House is just like an Instant Restaurant round. I guess fatigue has well and truly set in now. The episodes are way too long and the season feels neverending.

#5

Interesting how strong Family Guy is in the multichannel demos. It even managed to beat Talking Married in 16-39 despite Talking Married being no.1 in Total People and Family Guy not even in the Top 20.

#6

Ouch MKR under 700k is a concern. Home and Away is nearly beating it. The good thing for 7 is its still in the top 5 in each demo.

#7

Or should that be H&A is dragging it down its level?

#8

With the start of the NRL season this week, Nine could be winning by a huge margin this week. AFL couldn’t come soon enough for Seven next week.

I am a MKR fan but I have to admit that it’s well and truly over. The producers have been tweaking the format in the last few years but ratings seem to dwindle every year. Seven doesn’t really have the ‘next big show’ in their schedule. I can’t see anything firing up this year …except Sunrise.

#9

It’s definitely a concern for 7. House Rules is coming up but it too feels dated and the promos that I have seen feel very flat.

#10

I know it’s ‘each to their own’ and no judgement to those who watch MAFS. But I wonder how many more years it would take before MAFS loses its appeal (like MKR).

#11

Why not?

#12

They should have bought the rights to The Masked Singer but I believe Ten has got it.

#13

Outside the top 20 were 21 Bondi Rescue Rpt and at 22 a bad result for the repeat Jimmy Barnes special

In the Pell sentencing coverage Seven coded its coverage separately and so was well ahead of the other network’s that didn’t. The Seven News Special ranked 28th ahead of the afternoon news bulletins. The rest of The Morning Show and Today Extra rated as normal but Studio 10 had its highest numbers this year.

#14

I’m confused what that has to do with my post haha

#15

Oh sorry for not being clear - I was going to say that Seven could have bought some new shows (that did well in US) such as The Masked Singer rather than recycling some old formats like AGT . You are right - House Rules won’t cut it.

#16

And achieving its first clean sweep of this survey. Last Saturday showed how close it was between Seven and Nine in network shares. A few extra points from 9GO! may do it for Nine this week.

#17

I have also noticed that lately , Seven’s secondary channels have been lagging behind Nine’s.

#18

I’m actually looking forward to House Rules. They’ve made some changes, and while I doubt the show will set the world on fire I hope that at least it’s competitive in its timeslot.

I must say that I’m enjoying the Alf/Martha storyline on H&A. Belinda Giblin is perfect for the role and she and Ray Meagher work very well together.

Also Jett’s return this week was unexpected, with I believe a very strong storyline coming up for him.

H&A need to focus on these ‘family’ type of storylines and get rid of the done-to-death ‘killer cop’ crap.

#19

I don’t know seven’s finances but I would say money/budget has a lot to do with it. They couldn’t have much left after AFL and Cricket is taken out.

#20

It’s the beginning of the end, when your 7pm show drags your whole schedule down. Ask Channel Ten.
