Nine’s share shot up over 40% for game 2 of Origin an improvement of 3 points from game 1. Nine won all markets except Perth.

Without US election coverage on ABC News, ABC’s network share dropped 5 points however Seven was up almost three. 10 and SBS were steady.

Origin saw 1.65 million tune in. That compares to Game One’s 1.6 million and Game 2 last year when 1.965 million tuned in on a Sunday night. All markets except Melbourne delivered a higher audience compared to Game One.

ABC’s Gruen remained competitive with Reputation Rehab up from the previous week. Planet America also continues to do well.

Seven and 10’s post 7.30 offerings missed the top 20. Jamie’s Quick and Easy Food ranked 21st and 26th while Seven’s filler was 25th.

The morning episode of Blue topped 400k.

Massive drop-off from Origin match telecast to post-match coverage though.
ABC’s line-up was actually up a little from last Wednesday.

Bluey comprehensively beating the breakfast news programs continues to show that multichannels are not inferior to the primary channels.

The pre and post match coverage should have been moved to 9Gem in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

If Origin was on a Sunday last year, that could be the case with ratings are down this year

Despite a one sided match, Game 2 (anz stadium) rated slightly higher than Game 1 (Adelaide Oval) Nine won over 7 by a huge margin.
Next weeks Origin Decider at Suncorp stadium will be interesting. The decider will rate much higher than the game 2. Expect to see a higher crowd for next week at Suncorp stadium.

I think the SOO will return to mid year next year. The audience numbers and network shares have taken too much of a hit for Nine to agree to an end of season comp again.

Interesting to see that Seven ranked 4th in network shares in the key demos last night.

HAving the State of Origin played in November saw ratings drop off from the NRL GF. With State of Origin poised to return to June next year, this will see crowd numbers go up and viewership numbers increase.

Horrible numbers for The Sporting Bubble. It should have been on an earlier slot maybe on a Friday or Saturday night

Multi-channels up, viewers not interested in SOO seeking alternatives, also backed up by Gruen and Hard Quiz’s impressive audiences all things considered

Very surprising

Great result for the ABC, also beating Seven’s main channel

Incredible!

Seven News Melbourne with a rare win this year

Obviously they’re excluding sport?

Not rating in the 2m metro range to record lows isn’t good, especially when there’s not much else on at all and it was said to be a marquee timeslot of the year (even if pushed by coronavirus), next week’s numbers will be interesting.

It was also disappointing for Nine, NRL and us MS members, as there ended up being no tight battle/race to the 2020 finish line, as the AFL GF blew everything out of the water a month ago.

It is available on 9Now, and there is a repeat on Sunday, November 22, at a more decent time of 3pm.

I agree. The ratings of the first two matches haven’t been bad by any means, but State of Origin matches played in June/July are made for stay at home TV viewership.

In November there are considerably more distractions (even right now in the middle of a pandemic) due to there being generally better weather and Daylight Saving in NSW, etc.

Last night’s SOO ratings were the second lowest in 17 years (when the system started) - the week before number was the lowest ever.

They haven’t been bad in the sense that mid-1m (or anything over 1m) metro these days is nothing short of fantastic and certainly puts them in this year’s Top 10 programs.

However, even the previous year, they’d always still done 2m+ metro (apart from a couple) and when their own Aus Open bests that by 200-300k (close to 1.9m for one of the nights back in Jan) and this year’s AFL GF does 1.5m better (metro)… It appears as a disappointing result.

Same thing happened yesterday.

True but it’s a 10 min show that includes all catch up viewing throughout the day. The breakfast shows are several hours and tend to be live viewers.

Is it possible to provide the ratings for breakfast shows from 5:30am - 7pm? It would be quite interesting to see the gap.

No because most of the time you provided is out of bounds for breakfast TV :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
