Wednesday night shares were remarkably similar to Tuesday (Seven and 10 were identical) with Seven winning its third night in a row. Compared to the previous week, Seven was up three, SBS was up one with Nine, 10 and ABC dropping. Seven won all markets except Sydney that was won by Nine. Seven also led the demo groups with 10 ranked second.

It was Seven’s highest Wednesday share of 2020 while ABC continued its bad results for the week with its lowest share since the first week of the survey in February.

MasterChef was again well clear of the pack, topping the entertainment offerings in total people and key demographic results. Big Brother’s ratings were the lowest of the three episodes so far broadcast falling below 800,000 for the bulk of the episode.

The return of The Front Bar did best in Melbourne where it ranked 10th; Perth was next best were it ranked 12th while Adelaide ranked it 14th. In Sydney the show was 39th and just 48th in Brisbane.

Nine’s Taronga Who’s Who In The Zoo dropped 90,000 week-on-week while Paramedics that followed was down 110,000. The debut of Tommy on 10 missed the top 20 to rank 24th.

Numbers are in on the Front Bar. Is 57k in Sydney (at 9.15pm) worth playing on the main channel?

MasterChef beat BB in the major demos after the latter won on Monday and Tuesday.
The finale of Taronga: Who’s Who in the Zoo just made it into the top 20. It’s doubtful if it will be renewed for a second season.

Big Brother only won it’s launch night. Masterchef has been ahead since.

It’s looking desperate that Big Brother need to code the eviction part of the show separately to make it look better when the show is averaging 750k. It must get a slight boost when MasterChef finishes. I think BB ep average will be down to 650-700k come Sunday once it’s up against both The Voice and MasterChef.

Big Brother continues to do well. With AFL beginning tonight I wonder how it might fare next week with some extra promotion. Apparently 7 are going to have sponsored advertising in the crowd - they might have the Big Brother eye there as well.

I don’t know that BB will get any airtime away from Masterchef to be honest. With Masterchef dropping to 3 nights a week I would imagine that only 1 person will be eliminated per week from here on in and with 8 left in the competition it could be on for another 4 or so weeks, with BB only having 20 episodes if it does have clear air I’d imagine it would only be its final week?

No, The Front Bar should be airing on 7mate in the predominately NRL-supporting markets.

For all the time and money they’ve spent promoting the show, Seven would not want Big Brother to rate only 650-700k. As things stand now, 750-800kish and trailing MasterChef in the demographics is marginal.

I think it is better suited to 10:30pm on the main channel which is what happened for some eps last year. That is if Seven don’t want to disrupt the 7Mate schedule. Ranking 48th in Brisbane for a 9pm show can’t be acceptable.

It can’t air on 7mate on Wednesday nights as it would interrupt their successful animation block

What I meant was that MasterChef finished around 8.50 and Big Brother around 9.20. So some people might have flicked over which is why the eviction portion is slightly higher than the episode average. But yeah Ten will remain dominate over the entire season of MasterChef with the shorter weeks.

Anyone know an approximate finale date for Masterchef now that they’ve reduced to 3 nights a week? I was having a look at possible dates for Big Brother and The Voice grand final, and it looks like they might be finishing on the same week which will be interesting competition!
Big Brother will wrap up 28 July (24 episodes in total) and if The Voice does 2 shows a week for the finals like last year, it’ll likely finish 26 July

Any idea how The Voice has been doing in the key demos compared to Big Brother so far?

It can air, however it shouldn’t. It’s a successful night for 7mate demo wise, and they screwed it up with spartan and footy shows before that flopped

Who knows. Ten may have upped the episode count due to lockdown etc to make it run longer.

At a guess there would be around 3-3.5 weeks of MasterChef left if they weren’t extending it out. So this will add an extra 2-2.5 weeks. So I would say 5-6 weeks max remain which puts it in later July as well.

Then I’m guessing the week following the MasterChef finale Ten will fill more nights with Bachelor in Paradise to wrap the season up. I’m not sure what else any of the other networks have to go. Seven Farmer wants a Wife? Ten seem to be planning some primetime Family Feud specials over a couple of weeks and would be hoping The Bachelor can re-commence filming again soon.
