No Lego Masters sees Seven grab a win despite nothing post 7.30 really firing. Double reality gives 10 its highest share so far this survey, winning the key demos in main channel and network shares. TAGY does well, slightly down on last season’s premier. Without Lego Masters, MasterChef has its best result so far but House Rules still stuck in 4th place at 7.30.

10Bold records its highest share of the year with 5.6% - highest in survey result since Sochi in 2014.

Masterchef does better without Lego Masters as competition but still not brilliant.

Your Gen did okay but its best days are well and truly behind it.

House Rules struggling. The early room reveals didn’t help in any way and might actually hurt the final reveal ep on Sunday.

#4

A positive increase for Masterchef. The combination of Masterchef and Bachelor in Paradise has been good and makes you wonder whether there is some life in reality at 8:30.

TAYG moved from Monday to Wednesday but still rated quite well.
Seven News narrowly won Sydney and Melbourne but lost in Brisbane by a clear margin. Not a bad start for UK drama The Bay.
I think for the next two weeks while Lego Masters is on air, the best chance for MasterChef to grab viewers will be Wednesdays and Thursdays.

#6

Huge night for Bold! And the highest rating episodes seemed to correlate with the ‘lack there of’ on FTA main channels around 8:30pm and 9:30pm last night. Sydney particularly.

Also, 7mate and 9Go! at its expense don’t seem to have been as strong so far this year?

10 have finally gone in the right direction with Bold and its paying off big time. Obviously these shows have no life on the main channel but have a niche audience that does still want to find it. Hopefully they keep doing this. The line up last night of reality on 10 and drama on bold didn’t dilute the audience at all. It was a good combination and both target different audiences.

My only issue is when 10 play things like Bull and SVU in that 8:30/9:00 timeslot and the same sort of shows on Bold.

The 7:30 NCIS repeat is something I have been saying 10 should do on their multichannel for years. I am surprised it took this long to get some common sense. It has been one of the most successful moves for 10.

10 News Brisbane out rated the equivalent Sydney bulletin last night and ahead of ABC News Qld also.

It’s typical of Seven - I think they are being ‘greedy’. They know the reveals usually rate high and they have decided to incorporate this ‘early reveal’ which has fallen flat on their face. I feel that it will be anti-climax on Sunday for the full reveal.

The same with MKR - in the past few years, they have incorporated more ‘home cook’ style judging episodes. I know it’s not just Seven but some people do not grasp the concept of ‘less is more’.

The Castle ranked 21st. Hot Seat got closer than usual to The Chase - I’ve heard a lot of radio advertising for a competition associated with The Chase.

With the BIP lead-in, Sports Tonight rated a much more respectable number last night at 10:30pm.

For Nine standards, those ratings for Talkin Bout Your Generation are quite average. Getting somewhere around 700-800k metro viewers might’ve been OK, but 632k? Not good enough IMO!

That said, the numbers for House Rules & Bachelor In Paradise are even more embarrassing for their respective networks.

It’s one of the best movies Australia has ever made, but Nine have replayed it far too many times over the years!

Yeah, I’ve seen a few spots for a viewer competition related to The Chase on Prime7 Newcastle so can only imagine that Seven are hammering them at home in Sydney.

Wonder if that may be part of the reason Seven News Sydney had a decent win last night?

#13

I’m not sure I agree regarding Bachelor in Paradise. For a program running until 10:30 I think that figure is ok and the demos are very strong. Looking at 10’s programs over the last 6 months that aired in that timeslot the only program that has got slightly higher figures is Gogglebox.

#14

First run NCIS still rates.

#15

Not really. It only gets about 100k more than the repeats are getting on Bold.

#16

Pretty sure these have been Nine’s “standard” for over a decade now, until Married came along and bar a few shows like Underbelly and The Voice

#17

Really? The Block and Ninja have also provided much larger audience in that slot… I think 9 would have had higher expectations for the show. It did ok but it didn’t win its timeslot in total or demos so its not really 9’s standard.

Next year I think they need to put Bachelor in Paradise in this timeslot. To me it suits a slightly later slot anyway and it gives them a stronger audience across the night. They just need to keep it on consistent nights and shorten the episodes a bit as running 90-100 minute episodes till 10.30 is a bit long for a later timeslot.

I agree. They could even look at just airing it twice a week and extending the show to air for 8 weeks. Seems to have worked nicely with Masterchef.

#20

I agree, one full week like they did with survivor, then a couple of times airing like they are now. Itd fill the thursday gogglebox void.

Good to see the audience moving around the networks last night
