US Politics

I honestly think this is only a key issue for a very small portion of American’s and would not be a big deciding factor when it comes to their election. To most everyday American’s they would see wars as not uncommon in the Middle East and it would only really sway the ballot if the war involved USA or their own troops.

We are going to see these fluctuations in polls right up until the election. It’s going to be close and will probably be decided ultimately by what happens with Trump and his own actions in the coming months.

With the western-based Arab-descended activists and leaders, an excellent rebuttal is the armour piercing question of whether they can name a genuine Arab-Islamic western-type democracy? Or any genuine western-type democracy in a Muslim-majority country? Albania doesn’t really count for this because the 40 years of rule by Hoxha destroyed religious power and traditional Islamic clerical and cultural influence.

None are genuine democracies - Senegal and The Gambia have the “usual” African problems of ethnic and religious loyalty overriding the artificial nationalism of the borders created by European colonists, corruption and weak institutions and rule of law when facing pre-existing power brokers. B-H is a weak unstable federation where the Muslims holding the power openly and behind-the-scenes discriminate against the non-Muslim minorities. Ditto with knobs on for Kosovo who also refuse to allow the redrawing of their northern border to give Serbia the Serbian majority portion.

I wish there were an angry reaction on here… actually it’s almost funny given GB News has repeatedly rebuffed News Corp’s attempts to buy them. Shows they’re still happy to join forces for the cause…

And why is Farage still swanning about like he’s this heavyweight interviewer? His precious Brexit has set Britain back by a generation. In virtually any other country he’d have been laughed/shamed out of public life years ago.

This could get interesting, if trump attacks Biden on Israel from the left with “genocide Joe”. It would only take a few midwestern voters to get a whiff that trump might be better for Palestine to change their vote.

I’m sure this is completely genuine and not at all an attempt to get votes… remember this is the very same Trump who officially recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

It’s interesting that Alex Jones and Candace Owens have also both expressed support for Palestine… whether that is out of genuine sympathy, or motivated by anti-semitism, or just angling for clout, I’ve no idea… but if those nutters feel comfortable calling out Israel, I wonder if this is all part of a bigger sea change in American politics?

It’s a classic case of ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’. And on brand for Trump who is pushing an isolationist foreign policy, and leaving traditional allies to fend for themselves.

The far right these days are typically isolationist, anti-elite, anti-establishment neo-nazis so it wouldnt surprise me if some of them are ideologically appealed towards an anti Israel position. Wouldn’t be the first time the Left and right have come to the same position for completely different reasons.

The far right (and far left for that matter) doesn’t know which way is up. That’s about the best way you can summarise the state of the extremists in American politics these days.

Yet the lunatic is like “if a Jewish person votes for the Democrats then they need they need help” or something to that effect. There’s been outrage how he minimises this this. He’s so transactional and egotistic.

I am mixed on Israel. On one side I definitely support Israel against Iran and Hamas, but the other side of me believes in a isolationist position and not funding them. According to the International Monetary Fund Israel’s GDP in 2023 was around $520M, while Palestine’s GDP is $20M. Israel is more than capable to fund the war themselves, they don’t need hundreds of millions of military aid.

I also hate taxpayer money being used in wars. The money goes to the countries military, but it is then used for murder and destruction. I don’t like war and I don’t like funding it. It isn’t just the right who dislike interventionism; there is a lot of progressives and lefties who hate it too.

Yet somehow this bloated orange puff will still be able to wreak havoc and stir the pot and maybe even win the election this year at the rate. He’s going to get nothing more than a slap on the wrist with a wet lettuce leaf despite all of these convictions and his fans are going to get even more rogue and emboldened by this ‘witch hunt’ as he calls it.

America is just a pathetic sad place politically.
