Married AFS’s audience evaporated leaving Bachelor In Paradise to launch well down from last year’s premiere that had 752,000 and lower than any of last year’s episodes. However the show topped the key demo groups. It gave 10 its best Tuesday of the survey so far. MKR lifted by just 20,000 from last week and Big Bang was soft. The premiere movie on Nine could only manage 355,00 but gave Nine some late night numbers though Seven won the night.

10 will be disappointed with the launch figures for Bachelor in Paradise. Maybe viewers really need a breather from relationship shows after the drama filled season of Married at First Sight? BIP did rate higher than Ambulance Australia in the same timeslot though.
Not much lift for MKR, I don’t think it will return to one million before the grand final.
Seven News won Melbourne for second Tuesday in a row, while Nine News won Sydney and Brisbane even without MAFS as lead-out.

Soft launch night figures for BIP, but did well in all demos beating MKR and has the opportunity to grow as it progressses.

This year it’s also airing on different nights which are closely aligned with the regular Bachelor / Bachelorette seasons.

It was always going to be hard for 10 to launch the show straight after the mighty MAFS finished and coming off such a soft base with their recent ratings performance.

Not a terrible start for Bachelor in Paradise considering no one has been watching the network and most of its promotion was done via the network.

A few questions. Why has 10bold got NCIS on when 10 has NCIS on? Did they go head to head?

Neighbours? What has happened to this? Under 120k? Not great. 10peach is in dire need for some content to help support it. There needs to be some investment in this multi channel. I would love to see an After the Rose program for the Bachelor franchises. And possibly a few exclusive programs.

NCIS was at 7:30 on 10Bold followed by CSI Miami. NCIS on 10 was at 9pm

On Sundays there was a slight clash very often, but 10Bold have pulled NCIS on Sunday late nights now.
No surprise re BIP, with less people watching the network a lot didn’t even know it was on. Had a few people in work think it starts after Easter. At least it topped demos. No real growth for MKR and Home and Away drops back again.

BIP couldn’t capture that big audience available after MAFS ended.

In fairness, they had more viewers than Ambulance Australia did and MKR grabbed some viewers back. The biggest loser would be Nine though with those ratings for The Big Bang Theory compared to MAFS.

Completely reflective of the current terrible storyline dominating the show. Evil villain who has been torturing most of the cast for the past 2 years wakes from a coma with amnesia and is now good. Yeah, right. :joy:

And this comes after some really good storylines including the sad death of a regular character.

Reasonable launch for Bachelor in Paradise given the state of the network. It got about what I expected, did well in demos and I think it will build a little bit of momentum as the week goes on.

So Bachelor In Paradise rates 553, 000 lol. I don’t have to walk across the Harbour Bridge naked.

It is a pathetic result.

They could have run off the success of MAFS, but they needed 4 days to build up promotion for the show then a big launch on Sunday night. That way they could have cracked 1 million.

MAFS used to be on Sun- Wed, so they needed to follow this. Bachelor In Paradise is on Tue, Wed, Thurs? Makes no sense.

So instead of a major launch for Bachelor In Paradise on Sunday night, Ten will be dishing up Takeaway whose ratings were abysmal.

Channel Ten deserve their low 17% share. It will continue to fall to the low teens over the following nights and weeks.

Bach in Paradise was never going to crack 1million. I don’t think it ever did last season so I don’t know why you think it would now. Last seasons ratings fluctuated between the 600-800k range. It would not have done any differently if they launched it on Sunday. Ten needed something in their schedule now that people will watch and it did better than any of their other shows they have at the moment. I think it will build momentum as the week goes on as more people are talking about it and it’s starting to get a fair bit of coverage on social media.

There were people on here yesterday saying it was a great day to launch Bachelor Of Paradise because tbere were 2 million MAFS watchers up for grabs. I said rubbish

Not many people were talking about Bachelor In Paradise yesterday,

Ten could have teased the public for days and filled the Sunday papers with content about Brooke’s big secret.

It would have rated a hell of a lot more than 553,00. Opportunity missed again for Ten due to poor programming decisions

No it wouldn’t have rated much higher than 700k. The MAFS audience was up for grabs but most of them chose to do something else rather than watch what the other channels were offering.

I can tell you right now if they launched it on a Sunday it would have got less than what it did last night.

Re BIP - I guess it’s a matter of demo vs total. If the demos are strong, does it matter if it doesn’t do well in total people? Personally, I usually focus more on total people but I know that’s a bit naive.

Turdall I don’t really have time to talk ratings all day but I am interested in your comment that Bachelor In Paradise would have got “much less” it it had launched on Sunday. What do you base that on?

OMG I totally agree with you. The Neighbours writers had the opportunity to capitalise on some really good storylines recently but what we end up with is the Finn debacle and the terrible Finn-Elly-Mark-Chloe-Finn’s brother storyline. Oh, and then there’s Piper sleeping with her mother’s ex boyfriend.

So much hope after recent storylines but at the moment the show is disappointing.

Seven News Melbourne wins again. This is becoming more frequent over the last month. Seven are now loosing Brisbane though.

Bachelor in Paradise ratings - Yikes! Landing in 4th spot in its 7:30PM timeslot.

BIP about 200k down on what I was expecting… but then again, everything has been down about 200k on what I’ve expected on 10 lately.
