Seven was down 3 points from last Tuesday. Most of that went to Nine, recording its best Tuesday share in 5 weeks.
Nine won the 3 east coast markets. AFL drew double figures for 7Mate to ensure Seven won Adelaide. Seven also won Perth. Nine won the key demo groups with 10 ranked second.
Nine had the top entertainment show with The Block. Anh’s Brush With Fame ranked second as The Masked Singer Unmasked managed 600k – down from the previous week’s episode that had 680/800k. Halifax also did well but ABC’s Back In time For Dinner won the timeslot.
Over on Seven Plate Of Origin slipped even further despite less competition ending with 382,000.
The surprise result for the night the Ambulance Australia repeat that boosted 10’s post reality number. The show outrated Halifax and Plate of Origin in the key demos.

With the Australian team eliminated in the Double elimination in Plate of Origin, I wonder if the ratings will sink lower
Seven really need to take a look at the 3pm slot as it then has a ripple effect on the rest of the afternoon and evening.
But the question is - what could The Chase UK be replaced with? More news? Or maybe a combination of The Force/Highway Patrol/Border Security etc.

Strangely enough Sunrise wins by a larger margin when Sam is hosting. Though no surprises that Today won in Melbourne and Brisbane considering what’s been said in recent times on Sunrise.

Pretty decent ratings for The Masked Singer considering it was filler. I thought a lot of people would switch off as soon as they realised.

Slim victory for ABC News in Melbourne while A Current Affair won Sydney by just 1k.
Of course I’m happy with the recent trend of Juanita/Jeremy & Tamara/Mary giving Tracy Grimshaw a run for her money (and suspect many other members here are too), but Nine most certainly won’t be.
The 6pm news is still doing well enough for Nine in our two largest markets, so clearly something needs to be done about refreshing ACA. Dare I say it, perhaps the content mix of Nine’s 7pm program needs to be slightly more upmarket than it is at the moment!
The question is - say if A Current Affair beats ABC News on a national scale tonight, but ABC beats ACA quite strongly in say Sydney and Melbourne, does A Current Affair really need changing if it’s still winning the 5 city total people?
As long as they keep winning nationally, I don’t think they should be too concerned about individual cities ratings.
I’d say that the national v city methology is the reason why Fergo is still in the hot seat for Seven News Sydney. Even though Nine beats Seven pretty much every night in the evening news in Sydney, Seven still lead Nine nationally. Until Nine beat Seven on a 5 city scale every night at 6pm, I can guarantee Mark Ferguson will still be Seven News Sydney’s Sunday to Thursday presenter.

Nine probably wouldn’t be concerned about loosing to ABC News in Adelaide or Perth (as they typically have for quite some time, if I’m not mistaken), but Sydney & Melbourne are the network’s “bread and butter” markets. Nine probably aim to be the main TV choice of our two largest cities at just about every hour of the day, but recently we’ve seen signs that Sydney & Melbourne are prepared to give ABC News at 7pm a go instead of ACA - I’d have no doubt that at least some of the viewers who flick over to Juanita/Jeremy or Tamara/Mary are watching Pete/Georgie or Pete/Alicia during the 6pm hour.
As for the comparisons between the ratings of ACA & Seven News - it’s always well worth remembering that ACA with Tracy Grimshaw is shown nationally while Mark Ferguson is only seen presenting the Sydney 6pm bulletin. It’s not as if Fergo is seen presenting a national 6pm Seven News bulletin, only Sydneysiders (and those regional viewers who get the bulletin on relay via Prime7) receive it.
If Seven News at Six is rating really well in other markets but underperforming in Sydney, then of course actions should still be taken (including the replacement of local newsreaders if necessary) in a bid to help improve the Sydney market ratings.
Sorry I should’ve made my post a bit clearer, I wasn’t comparing ACA & Seven News, I was just making the additional point about Seven, after comparing ACA & ABC News.
Yes I agree with you that actions should be taken to improve Seven’s news service in Sydney, but my point was that I doubt any changes will come to fruition because Seven are still Number 1 on a National 5-City scale. I can’t see Mark Ferguson being removed and major content changes until Nine take over from Seven as the Number 1 in Total People for the 5-Cities combined, which may never happen (although it did on Sunday night, but that was a one-off).
spw68:
Is that new?
I believe it’s been a growing trend for a while now.
