It was good news for Seven on Tuesday with a win in the overnight ratings. Seven won in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth while Nine won in Sydney and Melbourne.

Seven got off to a good start with Seven News posting a bog win across the 6pm hour. At 7pm House Rules did well for its second episode only down slightly from Monday’s premiere.

10’s Coronavirus Special managed to make the top 20 in contrast to Nine’s line up of repeats!

Nine not making anything in the top 20 after ACA? What is now instead of MAFS apart from extended ACA?

Seven will be pleased with their ratings last night no doubt, as should the ABC. 10 will be happy 10 Bold is continuing to do awesome. As for Nine they’d say “it’s Easter non ratings” Which is fair enough as that’s how Seven and 10 used to treat this period, real test will be post Easter when Lego returns against an established HR (doing well so far) and also MC.

Finally some success for Seven thanks to House Rules. It retained most of the audience from Monday’s premiere.
I notice that HR is now coded as a single episode but Nine decided to split ACA into two for no reason.
The Chase pulled 700,000 viewers for the second half even though it was a repeat episode. Remarkable.
9Rush’s share continued to grow.

LOL!

HR is doing OK for now, but you’d imagine it’s drop-off when Masterchef and Lego Masters enter the fray on Monday

House Rules is doing better than MKR, but it is still losing near 700k (50%) of its lead out, against very poor competition. It’ll be interesting to see how it holds with a timeslot move and added competition.

Compared to the corresponding episode last year, HR is performing (surprisingly) better, although Seven would’ve expected more without reality competition from the other two. I suspect a drop off could be approaching when Masterchef returns next week.

Good to see Nine’s line-up of encore drop apart from news/ACA. If 10’s news special can make it into the top 20 but Nine’s second half of primetime can’t then they’ve seriously misinterpreted what the audience wants. Thankfully for them it’s non-ratings and they do have some first-run for the next two days.

Good to see 10 News First and The Project do well.

7 needs that extra channel some time in the future to remain competitive overall. Not sure what it should be though. Boxed set/binge viewing of some of the 7Plus content?

Finally a win for 7 News Brisbane even though The Chase and HR lost by small amounts

As streaming is becoming more and more popular, the idea of setting up yet another channel seems to not make much sense. A huge investment for little return.

Would it be if it was just older content? (I have no idea). They need the % points

It seems crazy that people focus so much on % share that networks have in this country with all their channels. Surely, advertisers would care more about having high rating programs which reach the most number of viewers, rather than who has the biggest share spread thinly across many channels.

Agree with both of your points and I think it’s way too early to be drawing conclusions about 9Rush for numerous reasons. However, if we get to a stage where the channel is helping Nine win nights and/or weeks on a consistent basis - Seven will have no choice but to once again have 4 multichannels if they want to remain competitive ratings-wise

Seems ridiculous at a time when there are huge cutbacks and staff redundancies that they would be doing something like this.

Maybe. I’m not an advertiser. I’d imagine advertising packages across more channels with potentially wider or more diverse audiences could be attractive too.

I said sometime in the future…they need to get their main channel rating better first and we all need to get over this crisis.

If Seven were to launch another multichannel, that would likely result in one of their two HD channels being shut down because it seems unlikely they’d get rid of RACING.COM or OpenShop. No thanks!

Back to the topic at hand, good to see healthy ratings for ABC News and 7.30 in four out of five metro markets. Just a pity that South East Queensland remained loyal to ACA during the first half with 7.30 only slightly ahead during the 2nd half up there.
