Huge numbers for the Melbourne Cup Race. Not surprised that Nine listed 6 “segments” for the day though. Milk it while they can. But the could have easily had the “early” and “preview” segments combined. And have the “presentations” and “Late” segments combined too.
Seven split their horse racing into three segments for yesterday too:
While on most Saturdays, they code their horse racing coverage as one, instead of three.
I agree. But to be fair, i don’t mind splitting segments for some long sporting games, but to a maximum of three segments - “Pre-game, game and post game”. No need for more than that, like for the Melbourne Cup.
It used to be worse in the old tv ratings system we had a few years ago. Quite a few “normal shows” had two segments for the ratings. Like The Chase, Hot Seat, Seven and Nine News, The Project, Seven’s and Nine’s Afternoon News etc all had two ratings each for their shows. Now its one. Thankfully.
Unfortunately breakfast TV didn’t evolve with the rest of the ratings with Today and Sunrise split into 4 - Early News, 5.30, Early and the main program from 7pm.
