Without Australian Survivor, 10’s Tuesday line-up bombed losing 4 share points to record the network’s lowest Tuesday share of the year. ABC also lost almost 3 points with Nine up almost 5; Seven and SBS were up 2 points each. Nine won all markets except Perth as well as key demos.

Without competition from Survivor, Married At First Sight hit a season high. The rest of prime time was filled with news, current affairs and documentaries with Seven’s movie the next best entertainment option coming in in 19th place. The delayed second episode of Revelation was down on the premiere two weeks ago.

Seven and Nine News at 6pm continued to do well with Nine’s A Current Affair and ABC News stand out performers at 7pm. Seven’s The Latest posted its lowest 7pm audience so far, losing half the 1.2 million lead in from Seven News. 10’s The Project was down at 7pm from last week placing second in the key demo groups behind ACA though the 6.30pm segment posted one of its highest numbers so far this year.

10’s specials flopped

9Gem topped multichannels with the repeat of James Bond movie Licence to Kill.
Married at First Sight’s audience last night was well down on last year’s penultimate episode (1.857 million).

lucky 10 has Masterchef starting in two weeks. Really big increase to Married. Proves further the impact Survivor had on it.

Disappointing ratings for 10’s two coronavirus specials. I think 10 should have shown them earlier, as soon as the two shows were ready for broadcast, when it was expected that the Federal Government would announce social gathering restrictions and advise people to stay at home if they could.

That was an awful figure. 18th in the demos.

The specials were pretty much old news.

Not necesssarily. This is not the first time MAFS hasn’t had competition from Survivor. Married wasn’t up against Survivor on Sunday’s all sesaon or last Wednesday either and it rated pretty similarly to normal those nights (maybe a very small boost but nothing worth noting). The show had an increase last night because it was the biggest scandal the show has had to date and always has an increase in the last two reunion episodes. I don’t think many Survivor viewers suddenly decided to watch MAFS so late in the season. The shows have two completely different audiences which is good for 10 because they’ve found something that was doing OK up against it.

Or shown them at the scheduled time without the project filler inbetween. My EPG couldn’t keep up so imissed 25 minutes of how clean is your house, so just deleted both

Sorry should have said 10’s 7:30 offerings. Not Survivor specifically.

Could the bad ratings for 10’s coronavirus specials vs how big news bulletins have been, suggest maybe viewers are turning to news not purely for ‘how to stay safe, hygenic, etc’ but to hear about lockdown info, job losses, economy.

You know when a movie repeat on a channel that’s been struggling makes the Top 20 and does over 400k (higher than some FTA premieres)… 10 haven’t had a good night with their line-up.

I’d say so. I get the feeling that yesterday might mark a slight turning point where the programs outside the main bulletins will gradually lose audience - unless there is another big announcement. I’m not saying the shows will do badly but that the record audiences will start to fall.

The Coronavirus special did manage to beat Seven’s post 7.30 line up in 25-54 (which isn’t saying a lot).

Obviously. We are getting to the point of overkill. Personally two weeks ago I felt like Coronavirus news and stuff was consuming my day and I was watching anything relevant to it but in the past week I’m mostly watching the news once a day for the key updates or if there is a PM address. I don’t really have any interest in the type of shows Ten were showing on how to stay safe or hygiene etc because the Government guidelines are pretty clear and we are following them for that reason.

Yeah same here. There are some that have been consumed though since early February. I know someone at work who talked about it every day for a week which led to me deleting social media.

Yeah social media was a drainer for me seeing so much about it all the time. I think now there is a bit less of it at least from what I’m seeing. Personally two weeks ago when it felt like the world was ending I was checking the stats everyday and constantly watching the news etc but now that restrictions are in place and things have stabilised in Aus (at least a little) I’m kinda less concerned about it and it’s the norm. I still want daily updates but just less frequently.
