Celeb usually goes for around 95 mins, as it did last night. Even so I still agree that the Celeb episodes are also too long, however it doesn’t bother me so much as I’m a celeb I generally sit and watch maybe the first hour and then its just on in the background whilst I do other stuff towards the end. It’s a very light show that doesn’t require that commitment and I can easily miss some of it if I need too. The fact that it’s a short season too I think means people wont be as impatient whereas MKR will go on for months.

#22

Every year, you bag MKR and you predict the end is nigh, but you continue to shower I’m A Celeb with praise, even though you can’t even be bothered to watch it any more. :joy:

I think they’re both too long and should both be only an hour long. I record and zap through all the recaps and previews and adverts. A 2 hour show can be watched in 50-55 minutes.

#23

Well the show is significantly down on previous years, so what’s your point? All that I ever said was that I’m surprised it sustained it’s audience given the episode lengths. I am surprised but I guess it shows its strength with the audience it has. If it can keep that up for the season with episodes that long then good on them.

Uhhhhhhhh what? Celeb is pretty much the only thing I’m watching (or interested in watching) on FTA at the moment. I didn’t realise you have to be glued to a show 100% of the time to be considered a viewer, or that it even matters in a ratings discussion anyway.

#24

But I thought you liked Married at First Sight too lol

#25

You’re whinging again and it’s pointless.

Well, you do need to be sitting in front a TV and ratings box for ratings to count. So having it on in the background and wandering around the house doing other things wouldn’t be counted as ratings on a ratings box.

#26

Seven claimed today that BVOD streaming of MKR was up 76% year on year. Meanwhile, Nine is crowing MAFS is a massive success on 9Now.

Looks like the two networks will continue to post numbers in order to boast its own reality show is No.1 in VPM / online catch-up.

#27

Seven’s claim that MKR VPM numbers are well up doesn’t make the show number one as Married’s numbers are also well up. Married is a clear winner 116,000 to 46,000 for episode 1 and 31,000 vs 10,000 for episode 2.

#28

So they won the night, MKR won Adelaide (just) and Perth. 7 News won in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth and wasn’t far behind in Sydney and Melbourne.
All is not bad for 7.

#29

Wouldn’t be too happy if I was Seven though. Being beaten by MAFS constantly is going to hurt them in the long run. The Good Doctor doesn’t run forever and they’ll have to find another solution.

#30

Actually after a second look, I think they won the news hour in Sydney and were 1000 behind in Melbourne. Is that right?

#31

Coding error for Today Tonight in Adelaide has been corrected in top 20 list.

#32

Thanks.

What a dire state for Australian TV. This time last year all the shows were pulling great guns, and now other than one half of the news nothing pulls the magic million.

Married at 955K, My Bitchin Rules at 814K, Celebrity at 605K, The Good Doctor at a measly 552K (half of this time last year) and the 20th rating program rates barely 300K. Australian TV networks only have themselves to blame for the decline in audience of their shows. They’ll need to do more than finding innovative formats to entice the audience to return to linear TV.

#33

It’s not whingeing. It’s a fact based on viewer numbers. This is the thread to analyse ratings.

Well I don’t have a ratings box but I don’t need to justify to you what my own viewing habits are either. Stop nit-picking and move on. Geez.
