Nine secures an easy win posting its highest Tuesday share since before Easter (17 weeks ago) as America’s Got Talent’s audience evaporates. Bachelor in Paradise is well up to another season high and number one across all key demos. Ninja Warrior was down 50,000 from Monday. The Olympic special featuring the 2000 Opening Ceremony on Seven flops. Seven codes it in 2 parts that rank 26th and 40th.

Nine won along the east coast with Seven winning Adelaide (narrowly) and Perth. Nine won 25-54 and 10 won 16-39. Seven ranked 3rd in both. Despite the Sydney Olympic special, that market delivered Seven its lowest share.

Ninja is still doing well but it must be concerning for Nine that Bachelor in Paradise is beating it in all demos.

The Olympics special should’ve been on at 7.30 instead of America’s Got Talent.

Oof.
BiP has done really well for 10 in the demos over its run.
There is no way that 10 can’t be happy with how it’s performed against all the finals and launches of new shows.
I genuinely thought 10 should’ve ran this then Masterchef (mainly because they were still filming Masterchef) but they’ve done well with their shows. As has Nine.

Not that this would’ve made much of a difference, but as well as an earlier timeslot I personally think the 2000 Olympics Opening Ceremony special should’ve aired on September 15 - the actual 20th anniversary.

I think the forum grossly overestimated the interest in the Olympic special. It looked to have potential with Seven giving the show a huge promotional push across the day with Sunrise, The Morning Show and Seven News all featuring stories about the opening ceremony. These stories were also across most news sources during the day. In the end, even with the ratings coded as two parts (did anyone notice that?) part 1 couldn’t make the top 20 in Sydney.

I think it’s to do with the lead-in. If it came off the back of Home and Away, Seven News or even Farmer Wants a Wife it would do a lot better. Whereas they had America’s Got Talent, which isn’t even competitive, as a lead-in and they wonder why well-made specials like this flop.

Gosh 379,000 at 7:30pm on a Tuesday… ouch.

That’s what happens when Seven decided to show Farmer Wants a Wife only on two nights per week to stretch the season.
The Olympic special flopped because of a low lead-in, was 2.5 hours long and didn’t finish until close to midnight. The consolidated figures will be interesting.

They could repeat it on that day.

Bachelor in Paradise topping all key demos, even ahead of former total people powerhouse Ninja! Wow. Bach looks to have gained this week in total people too.

Even if total people is miles off MC and 10’s total people share lower, key demos are still firing for them.

Am I missing something? Why would people want to watch a doco about the Olympics held 20 years ago just because the Tokyo Games were postponed?

Quite close call for Seven News and Nine in Melbourne. Seven Melbourne won 6:30.
Seven News Brisbane struggling for over 200k figures.

The Olympics Special rated poorly, which is a shame. The time didnt help, and as others said, the lead-in didn’t help either.

I know that Seven would have had the Tokyo Olympics this week and had this doco as a substitute, but it flopped.

Shaun Micallef On the Sauce did well for its timeslot though, which is good

Nine News Brisbane’s highest rated bulletin for 5 weeks.

No doubt thanks to the promo for the night - expect to see this font again!

This season of Bachelor in Paradise has started to build some momentum. The demo numbers are huge and it’s breaking a lot of viewing records on Ten play / online streams as well. BIP would definitely be generating a lot of revenue for Ten. I think it’s advantage is that it is on more nights of the week so gives viewers something consistent to watch whilst the other networks seem to be stretching out their shows.

The only reason 10 should’ve aired BiP first is the high potential for bachelor fatigue by the time we get to the end of the year as they’ll be airing BiP followed by Bachelor followed by Bachelorette - it’s alot of the same… airing BiP > Masterchef > Bachelor > Bachelorette might have broken it up a bit.

And with Masked Singer, we pretty much get Osher non-stop till the end of the year.
