Seven’s Olympic coverage continued to deliver on Tuesday. Seven’s network share was similar to Monday while the main channel was up an 7Mate down. Nine and ABC got similar results to Monday while 10 was down 1 and SBS up.

Brisbane delivered Seven’s highest share last night while Nine did best in Adelaide. For 10, Perth was their best market where the network ranked second.

While Seven dominated the key demos, 10 was second well ahead of third placed Nine.

Seven News at 6pm was even higher than Monday but it slipped at 6.30. The network managed to adjust the afternoon coding to account for The Chase being bumped.

Survivor continued above 600k as well as placing in the top 5 of all key demo groups. Beauty and the Geek, however slipped to a season low on Nine.

The Cheap Seats was down 90k from debut and knocked out of the top 20 in total people but got some good demo numbers to rank 14th in 25-54 and 15th in 16-39, a good result for 9pm given the competition.

While Seven’s Olympic coverage continued to dominate, its afternoon figures (which featured swimming finals) were lower than Monday.

The Weakest Link finished its season out of top 20.

Apparently it still aired in Adelaide. Not sure about Perth.

In Adelaide it ranked 9th which was lower than the afternoon Olympic coverage. In Perth it was 6th.

Why does ABC News Breakfast’s rating get split into ABC TV and ABC News channel? Together it rated more than Today yesterday.

From Seven

Day 4 up 58% nationally on same day 2016 Rio, up 66% in the capital cities.
7News 6pm and 6.30pm second biggest capital city audience since 2017.

Lots of interest outside the Olympics again around the morning news conferences.

At breakfast, Sunrise posted it highest audience of the year (Weekend has been higher) while Today was down on recent numbers. Sunrise was +120k ahead of Today that landed in third position as News Breakfast posted its highest audience of 2021 just under 20k ahead of Today. Today was 3rd in 4 markets.

@TV.Cynic How is Pointless on Nine at 2pm going, particularly in comparison to Ellen at 12?

I know the Olympics would likely drag the ratings down, so maybe even how they were going one day last week?
Many thanks!

In general it is ranking higher and has a bigger audience.

Sky News lower than Monday in the demo rankings, but interesting Alan Jones is reaching a younger audience compared to Bolt, Credlin and Murray.

Australian Survivor performing better than Beauty Geek including 16-39 demo.

Perhaps some of the younger kids were looking for a reboot of the teletubbies :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Not surprising. 10’s shows always seems to be the winner in this demo group.

Can’t be long now before we’re seeing “Axed: The Weakest Link” as a headline on TV Tonight & TV Blackbox.

It’s bad enough that niche programs on ABC-TV have outrated The Weakest Link pretty much all season, but there’s no way a renewal can be justified after last night’s performance with less metro viewers than breakfast and mid-morning shows!

Sad really because if scheduled in a 7.30pm timeslot and with a different host, TWL might’ve had a chance…

I don’t think it is a totally lost cause. But it wasn’t something I was prepared to give a go, but anecdotally it did improve across the series and to end against the Olympics probably not a fair assessment. Perhaps out of MAFS?

AUSTRALIAN SURVIVOR TUES 717,000 - pretty good consolidated number.

If not for a solid timeshifting increase, we may not be able to see how bad the season finale of The Weakest Link rated.

I saw last Tuesday’s dreadful number for The Weakest Link (not sure if it got ahead this week, but Insight on SBS had a few thousand more than TWL in the overnights! :open_mouth:) via TV Tonight’s daily ratings wrap-up article. Not doubt other sites also had it.

But even just cracking 200k with the benefit of 7 Day Consolidated figures isn’t that great IMO.
