Seven wins its second night of the week in another close contest where Nine had the number one main channel. Nine dropped two points from the previous Tuesday and 10 was down one. Both ABC and SBS improved their share of the audience.

Seven won the AFL markets while Nine won Sydney and Brisbane. Nine won the 25-54 audience while 10 won the 16-39 age bracket.

Big Brother had a narrow win over Celebrity Apprentice at 7.30 with MasterChef third in another close contest. Later the Boardroom segment of Celebrity Apprentice topped the list of entertainment programs.

The premiere of The Weakest Link managed 423,000 to rank 18th for the night. In the key 26-54 age bracket it ranked 12th.

It was a particularly poor night for How To Stay Married that slipped well out of the top 20 after last week’s high, also missing the top 20 in key demo groups.

ABC’s line up saw Anh’s Brush With Fame up almost 100k from the previous week while Love On The Spectrum lifted 45,000.

Big news numbers in Melbourne while Brisbane was also up.

How to Stay Married was battered by Celebrity Apprentice’s boardroom segment. It will need better figures for the Monday encores and catch-up on 10play if it is to get renewed.

Average ratings for the return of The Weakest Link.

This looks like a failed return of a BBC created game show format originally shown on 7.

Who/what was the weakest link?

The host: Magda Szubanski?

The format: Simple idea but strangely hard to follow?
A voice-over man has to explain progress in the game.

Yes. But it won its timeslot.

You know The Weakest Link isn’t likely to remain in the schedule for long when it’s outrated by a fairly niche ABC-TV program such as Love On The Spectrum in Nine’s “bread and butter” markets of Sydney & Melbourne.

Also seems like Nine News Sydney is still yet to recover in the ratings from Monday night’s major technical issues.

It’ll be interesting to see how it does next week because The Weakest Link wouldn’t have been the cheapest show to revive.

There wasn’t much else on at 9pm last night so not surprising that it won but it’s still underwhelming.

I’m expecting it to drop further next week if the quality doesn’t improve.

Good to see a competitive landscape at the moment amongst the networks in the key prime time slot, key demos as well.

Seven News Sydney putting up bit of a contest, winning the whole hour. They seem to have been winning certain timeslots over the last few days.

Seven News Melbourne also managed to win the whole hour.

Nine Adelaide posting competitive figures for the first half hour but Seven still led by ~1000. Seven Adelaide had an increased audience for 6:30.

Am I the only one that thinks 400k for a 9pm show is reasonable? It’s not great but not a lot else rates that high at 9pm
