A 6.1% share for ABC News channel helped ABC into second place in network shares while Nine had another easy Tuesday win. 10 was steady with the previous week while Seven and SBS lost ground.

Nine won all markets except Perth that was won by Seven. ABC placed second in Sydney and Melbourne while 10 was narrowly second in Brisbane.

In the key demographics Nine had an easy victory with 10 second ahead of ABC while Seven in a shocking result for a night the featured the My Kitchen Rules final ranked fourth.

Mid evening a media conference from the Prime Minister interrupted schedules on all networks (at different times in each market) so preliminary program numbers will be adjusted; for example ABC’s revelation that ranked 18th was not broadcast; the Nine News Special represents mostly Married AFS and the Seven News special includes a lot of the MKR final in some markets.

Preliminary numbers put Married At First Sight even with the previous week as the top entertainment show. Australian Survivor’s penultimate episode drew the season’s best audience so far while My Kitchen Rules delivered the show’s lowest ever grand final result epitomising the show’s poor season.

News and current affairs numbers were again at unprecedented levels for recent years.

Nine had another big night with the news special retaining most of MAFS audience.
ABC News channel did well with the coverage of Prime Minister’s press conference rating 1st and 2nd on multichannels. But almost one million for ABC’s 7pm bulletin - astounding!
MKR finished its 11th season on a whimper.
Survivor’s penultimate episode was down on last year when it pulled 926,000 against The Block.

NCIS did really well at 8:30

What sort of figure are we looking at from 7-7.30pm? Similar to the average, closer to ACA or The Project, or was there a switch off to the reality TV shows at 7.30 which dragged down the average across the hour?

In some markets NCIS was partially the press conference.

Surely the demos are worse than H&A. It is overkill. Better airing this around 9pm.

I wouldn’t be so sure, H&A hasn’t been a great demo performer for a long time. it’s routinely defeated among the younger groups by ACA and the Project

Home and away’s demos haven’t been good recently but it does benefit from it audience growing across the week in catch-up viewing.

That said, however, the demos for The Latest were not good. Last night, it was 4th in the key demos ranking behind ABC News and 7.30.

Well. Seven is the oldest skewing commercial network. ACÁ and The Project have loyal followings. 7’s news between 6-7 is the oldest skewing news too. And after 1 hour of news from 7 I can imagine people wanna Flick to project or aca for something diff.

I think abc is ahead as it’s abc’s flagship bulletin.

I would expect in time the latest could settle into third place. I don’t see it topping aca and the project though.

Wow, Nine News special outrated Married in the key demos (although I note Cynic’s over-run comments).

And LOL at My Kichen Rules, total fail :joy:

Yeah its funny when Australian productions fail.

I think The Latest will grow an audience if its allowed to run longer than 2 weeks… (why not extend through Easter?) and when it’s not leading into MKR and competing against MAFS…

@TV.Cynic
Hello, what was the Ratings for both the NRL Fox League Mornings & Fox League Live, shows on the Fox League Channel.??
Please please, thanks TV.Cynic .!

Sorry no idea on those numbers.

Remember it’s launched against ACA and ABC News which have both been in that timeslot for decades, and The Project which has been going for 10 years. It needs time.

Data © OzTAM Pty Limited 2020. The Data may not be reproduced, published or communicated (electronically or in hard copy) in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of OzTAM. “Overnight” figures include “Live” (programs broadcast during the 2am-2am broadcast day) and “As Live” (programs recorded and then watched within the same broadcast day). “Consolidated” figures include Live, As Live and “Time Shift” (programs recorded and then watched within seven days of the initial broadcast).

Note significant adjustment to the overnight numbers for some shows.

Extremely low figures for the new season premiere of The Blacklist on 7TWO, that’s the reason the channel’s share was below 2% for the night.
