Big win for Nine with its best Tuesday audience share of the year of almost 35%. Nine had wins in all markets except Perth were Seven was a narrow winner. Nine was up 2 points from last week’s tennis coverage with most of that coming from Seven. Nine achieved +40% shares in key demos groups while 10 ranked second.

Married at First Sight was again the number one show of the night with almost 30,000 more than Monday’s debut episode. The Amazing Race suffered a big drop, down 50,000 from Monday and 100k from the previous week. Seven’s 7.30 offering of Highway Patrol managed just 300,000 fourth in the timeslot (even in Perth).

A huge drop off to the post 7.30 offerings. Botched was the best with 386,000 with The Good Doctor slipping to just under 300k. NCIS ranked 21st.

First time since 2017 when audience went up from the first episode to the second episode.

The ratings season has just commenced and Seven’s schedule already looks so ‘uncompetitive’. I don’t
know why they didn’t just launch the Celebrity Holey Moley or Ultimate Tag. What are they waiting for? I think they need to regroup and think about what to do early next year.

Channel 9 won its 15th consecutive night. Married at first sight ratings went up during the 2nd episode. This show topped number 1 in all demos.

Shut up shop in 2022!

Last year’s ratings for MKR must be looking pretty good at this stage for Seven. How they managed to get to the point of airing highlights episodes of old factuals on the second week of the ‘official’ ratings period reflects pretty bad planning.

Getting pretty embarrassing for Ch 7 now … cupboard looks threadbare now and for a while especially prime 7.30-9.30 weeknights. Running dead with fillers like Ambulance and Highway Patrol etc. Plenty more ratings floggings coming up …

Home and Away is quite bad as a lead in for anything now too.

And Highway Patrol was technically an old as the hills repeat, just re-packaged and glossed up to appear as advertised ‘new’.

Seven shouldn’t be overly surprised, wonder what Nine bosses are thinking right now :joy:

Nine will be pleased that it picked up another 28k viewers in Sydney and 32k in South East Queensland for Married At First Sight. Other than that, a fairly average night of ratings.

The 2021 return of AFL can’t come soon enough for Seven - that’s all I can say!

MAFS continues to absolutely dominate.

The Amazing Race seems to have shed some viewers. I’m not surprised given all the gimmicks they are using to stretch the season out.

Some of the gimmicks are terrible but you don’t think MAFS is the reason they have lost some viewers? I think TARA is doing well to keep most of their viewers, to be honest.

Well on Monday The Amazing Race was also up against MAFS and it still rated above 500k. So it definitely took a bigger hit last night. Sure MAFS could be having an impact but The Amazing Race seems to have had a pretty steady drop off across the week. It clearly isn’t doing enough to sustain the viewers anyway if people so easily flick to another show. If the season was faster paced and didn’t feel like it was never going to end it might have been a different story.

Guess Seven might reboot MKR after all :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Actually, I wouldn’t mind them giving Come Dine with Me a go at this time of the year.

Good suggestion Tom. Seven should not have thrown out MKR so quickly after last year’s flop. Anyone could see why it struggled … strayed way too far from its previous successful formula over many years. Should have gone back to basics for MKR this year with at least one new judge (keep Manu but bye Pete!) and straight cooking competition. Come Dine With Me also worthwhile rebooting … its basically MKR lite (UK version currently on SBS Food 33 weeknights).

It would have been better for Seven to air MKR than HM, due to the costs and both were around the same views.

Good point JacobA. So why did Seven do HM? Did they see the ratings for Ninja Warrior on 9 and just think we can do something like that? How does Ninja rate so high anyway??
