Overnight results for Tuesday were similar to Monday with Nine 2 points clear of Seven and 10 third above 20%. It was 10’s best Tuesday share of the survey while for Nine it was the lowest and Seven the highest since the first week of the survey in February.

All three reality tentpoles lost ground from Monday’s numbers with LEGO Masters again number one and MasterChef just ahead of Dancing.

For LEGO Masters it was the lowest ever rating for an episode of the 3 year-old franchise while it was MasterChef’s lowest result for a regular episode since 2019 when multiple episodes rated in the 500k’s. The second episode of both franchises topped 1 million in 2020.

The pattern was repeated on ABC with Anh and Old People also shedding audience from the previous week.

Rare win for Nine News helped by Nine’s growing dominance in Brisbane.

The four networks must be wondering why all their main shows lost ground from their previous episode.

After losing its timeslot on Monday, Lego Masters managed to tie with DWTS in Perth. Both shows’ audiences doubled that of MasterChef.

What on earth is going on at 7 News Brisbane?

Seven News in all markets aside Perth is pretty volitile in terms of stability. Nine doesn’t really jump up and down so heavy.

I really think 10 should look at moving Masterchef to later in the year or at the beginning of the year.

Both moves are risky. MC will have to go head to head against either Married at First Sight or The Block, both consistent ratings winners.

I agree. Against MAFS now that MKR isn’t in that period and while 10 has the promotional power of Celeb before it. MC would also run longer then MAFS meaning 10 wouldn’t have to run dead for weeks waiting for it to end.

There is no guarantee that once MAFS finishes, viewers will switch to MasterChef. They may stay around for Lego Masters.

I think Masterchef will benefit later in the week against less competition. Tonight and tomorrow might give it a chance to get some viewers back that might have been watching DWTS or Lego Masters (or even not realised that it started). Also I’ve said elsewhere they should’ve started the season with a bigger bang - nobody cares to get to know the contestants in these audition style openers anymore which I reckon would have had a big drop off throughout. Last night’s episode was better than the first but I really think tonight with the mystery box and Emelia should have been the seasons starting point.

That’s only really been the case though because Seven and 10 haven’t really put up much of a fight against them. Heck, MAFS was pretty much given a ‘free’ run this year because it was up against (frankly) pretty weak competition.

I think it’s far too early to be drawing conclusions about both MasterChef and Lego Masters (especially considering Big Brother’s return next week will alter the ratings picture). Having said that, moving MasterChef to the start of the year (as turdall and Seriously suggested) surely can’t do any worse for 10 against MAFS than how The Amazing Race did this year

They didn’t seem to do either anyway. Lego masters is winning sure, but still a bit of a switch off.

Since most reality finales seem to be on a Sunday/Monday maybe the same week instead of running rubbish waiting for the following week to launch, they could offer up MasterChef the auditions part 1 and 2 on Wed/Thurs and then do a full competition launch on the Sunday with the reveal.

Almost making it obvious you can miss the auditions and not miss out on “The Launch”.

Be interesting to see how this race goes as MasterChef will be up against a few different realities this year.
