Network shares for last night were remarkably similar to the previous Tuesday with Nine again coming out on top. The network had a rare win in all markets as well as winning the 25-54 demographic group. 10 took out the 16-39 age bracket.

The contest between The Voice and MasterChef was incredibly close with 10’s cooking show closing the gap on Nine’s singing comp, just 4,000 separating the two in preliminary numbers. saw 10’s cooking show close the gap on Nine’s singing comp, with both programs recording 926,000 (time adjusted).

Meanwhile House Rules sank to the show’s lowest ever rating of any season.

The top rated news was again Seven with Nine’s bulletin losing some ground yesterday. ABC’s line up did well, up slightly from the previous week. How To Stay Married was up slightly, with it best result in the 16-39 demo group where it ranked sixth.

Note that the 10 News First coding is for the 90 minutes of the bulletin - the 5pm segment had 424,000.

Update: MasterChef adjusted to 926,000.

That’s a good result for MasterChef, forcing a tie with The Voice. As The Voice’s blind auditions begin to wind down and the battles begin, MC should gradually come up on top in total audience as well.

Seven News won the first half in the east coast with its coverage of its own reporter Amelia Brace and cameraman Tim Myers being attacked by police during protests at Washington DC on Monday.

ABC’s network share went up on the back of the news channel increasing by 0.5% from last Tuesday.

The final round of House Rules this season off to a low start. Maybe people think that five long episodes across four nights is too much.

Some good scores for Seven News on the eastern coast with wins in Sydney and Brisbane (6:00) as @JohnsonTV says. Melbourne not trailing too far. At 6:30 it switches for Syd and Bris, Seven not trailing far behind at all. Seven News wins 6:30 timeslot in Melbourne.

More ratings including moring and after news results.

Ratings: The Voice and MasterChef top Tuesday viewing; Nine wins overall

Could 10 please now start making claims like Nine about timeslot winners to shut Nine up. I Wanna see “Masterchef demolishes the competition” just so Nine stops its “easy timeslot winner” “decimated the competition” claims when it’s not true.

IMO they’ve stuffed up on the schedule front. The show should’ve either stayed as Sunday-Tuesday or Sunday-Wednesday throughout its entire season instead of two nights a week then three then four. Viewers can’t keep up.

This season of House Rules has been mediocre (quality wise and ratings wise). Some serious reconsideration to get back to the basics is needed to rejuvenate the show going into the future.

I’m unsure if that would happen or be a wise choice. Seven should start fresh. It’s been clear that House Rules struggles to reach the ratings of shows put out by Nine and Ten.

There are several problems with that. Promotion are generic and lacks excitement (needs to be promoted as event TV). House Rules also relies on a strong show (which was MKR) that leads into the season and because MKR has tanked they need to go for a new-ish yet familiar format (Come Dine with Me which is cheaper to produce than MKR and still enjoyable) to establish a new generation of audience to lead into House Rules. Thirdly, ensure that the show is consistently on throughout the week and not two nights this week, one night next week etc. Finally, they need Johanna Griggs back onboard for familiarity.

Mind you, my preference is for House Rules to air alongside another show like Australia’s Got Talent (which has a reasonable audience) so they don’t put their eggs into one basket during the week. That way they could maximise their potential to win a week.

Finally something we can all agree on… Ann Sanders for full-time presenter!

For the morning news (and Sydney’s afternoon news at least) - the Afternoon figures would also rely on other states with other presenters figures.

Yes, I am aware, just some fun. If we can’t agree on Ann Sanders there is nothing we can agree on!

But the did beat 10, so they’re free for bragging rights.

Not last night they didnt, and it wasnt an easy win

They did win overall but ‘easy time slot winner’ isn’t exactly holding fire when Masterchef is only 4,000 behind The Voice and runs rings around them in demos.

‘Easy timeslot winner’ would be something like 50-100K margin between The Voice and Masterchef, which obviously did not happen.

They beat 10 in primary and network share… 10 only won in the demos.

I think the comment relates to Nine saying

When it tied with Masterchef at 7.30.
